Starlink announcement from Musk

This is pretty big news. While you're not going to get Starlink on the move (unless you can figure out how to mount a dish so that it doesn't get ripped off your vehicle), while stationary, getting 300 Mbit downloads is amazing. If you're not familiar with Starlink, you can get started here: https://www.starlink.com/ or read about it lots of other places. I have family and friends using it from their homes that live in rural areas with little or no Internet service of substance and they are thrilled with it.
Currently, the equipment is $500 up-front and $99/month for unlimited service. We're on the wait list for service to our rural home in SW Wisconsin.

It will be interesting to see this evolve. Might be a viable option.

At the moment, if you have Starlink, you can't just pick it up and move it to a different location. This, properly executed, will be a nice win for folks. The dish will position itself very quickly when activated. It is either Dish or Direct TV that has a dish/cover that is mounted flat on an RV or car. There is an antenna inside of it that once locked onto a satellite rotates to keep a signal. There was a video of an SUV with the set up doing donuts and going crazy in a parking lot and the dish never lost signal.2006 RAM 1500 4 door, 2016 T@B 320 MAX S

I’m hoping for something more compact and practical. Smaller when traveling is better! 👍🏻Mike - Elmira, Mi / 2019 T@B 400 / 2021 Chevy Silverado LTZ
