@OBEQ2017, serious looking. Do you know how and or when this happened? What is the date of manufacture? You can find the date of manufacture on a sticker on the driver's side of the frame near the crossmember of the A-frame. Our experts will want to know. Thanks -Denise
I took the trailer in for regular maintenance. Asked that they check the frame for cracks because of issues posted here. Received a call from the dealership and pictures were sent to me. There is no sticker on my frame. The dealership has been in contact with NuCamp and with Bal. I see from another posting that someone with a 2016 Outback has had a crack at the same location. Mine has a smaller crack on the other side of the trailer as well. This is an Outback Edition never taken off road. All original. Nothing extra on the tongue. This is a new one on me, and a very different (and potentially much more serious) crack than those reported on certain 2015 models.
What are the (what appears to be) empty holes forward of the crack. I hope those aren't locations where frame bolts are supposed to be!
EDIT: On further reflection/inspection, I don't think those are empty bolt holes as I have seen them on other T@B frames. I'm not sure what they are, but I don't believe they contribute to this particular problem.
It's unfortunate but not surprising that the cracks would affect the passenger side as well, since--given the condition of the driver's side--the passenger side would be carrying a greater load and therefor be under even more stress.
Good luck getting this fixed. Please keep us updated on your ultimate resolution.
I would get to a qualified welder for repair and reinforcing. A qualified welder can make it stronger than new. Then check to see if it is covered under my comprehensive insurance policy for reimbursement.
Update: dealership has had numerous conversations with NuCamp and BAL as to who will cover what and what needs to done. My understanding is NuCamp has sent a "Repair kit for Tab frame" to the dealership. BAL has stated that this is not the correct repair and that both side rails need to be replaced. Talked with the dealership and Frame side rails parts have been ordered. May take up to 12 weeks for parts to arrive. Repair kit for both side rails has arrived. The plan is to replace both frame side rails and then reinforce them with the Repair kit for Tab frame.
