July 28 UPDATE: all rally attendees and wait list folks should have received an OcT@berfest Rally update email. For those of you unfamiliar with our rally, we have been meeting together since 2009, starting with 6 DM Tabs and this year we have 76 Tab Family trailers attending. We focus on members from the Northern California area, to develop a nifty support and camping friends network. As noted in the original post above, here is the link to our website for more information. https://www.norcaltab.org/ Our rally is at Olema Campground near the Point Reyes National Seashore.

The NorCal Tab Family OcT@berfest 2023 (our 14th year!) is a wrap and most of the attendees agree this was the best ever! We met at Olema Campground just steps away from the Point Reyes National Seashore and we had the entire RV portion of the campground, 76 sites with 112 attendees. Our program included Thursday movie night, and an incredible Friday afternoon Napa Valley wine and beer tasting and walk about the 7 circles of Tabs (after all, we are in wine country! ) with yummy appetizers and fresh oysters from Hog Island Oysters (just up the road), of course a cornhole tournament and a ginormous Saturday night potluck dinner. The biggest and best treat of all is the Saturday morning presentation by Vogels RVs in Ukiah, our local Tab dealership since the DM days. Thank you to Vogels and NuCamp for providing local pastries for our morning start. Kelly Vogel Huffman and Sean Keown and their team brought a beautiful 2024 320 Boondock for show and tell, and presented a brief history of the Tab trailers starting from 2004, updates from NuCamp, and a review of best practice for general maintenance for all ages of Tabs. This was followed by three intense focus sessions by Sean. Have you been up close and personal with an Alde? Sean had one on the table and everyone gathered around for a great review and Q/A. This was followed by an Electrical session with an auto sensor converter base on the table and all of the ins and outs of lithium vs AGM/lead acid batteries and how to get the most power , including solar, from our Tabs of all ages. The last part of the morning was a session about plumbing.
After lunch Sean and team did about 20 courtesy trailerside consults solving many small issues and including three on the spot heater repairs!
We had two afternoon buzz sessions, one about extended road trip planning, EV towing and Starlink experiences and the other about solo camping. We also had a trailerside best practice review for DM Tabs including maintenance and troubleshooting.
Whew! What a great rally. The 18 new Tabbers that came were so excited about the teaching sessions and the warm circle of friends they have now. Lots of Tabbers helping Tabbers including several WeBoost installations.
This is the OcT@berfest 2023 souvenir, artwork is by one of our original members. Sara Mordecai. We have some extras and they will be available in her Etsy shop in a bit.
Yes, we are very fortunate to have Sean, the service manager at Vogels, and Kelly, come to our rally. Sean is very knowledgeable about both Dutchmen and NuCamp units and he is a very good teacher.
