Size and Specs of Goodyear Trail Runners on 2023 400s

Can somebody with a 2023 400 sporting the Goodyear Trail Runners take pic or tell me the specs of their tires? Specifically the size and load index number? 

I'm looking for new tires and, if I'm looking at the right size, these tires are decently priced and still retain a bit of off-road look.

@manyman297, I am including two photos of the Goodyear Wrangler TrailRunner AT 235/75R15 (a light truck tire) below, which I took at nuCamp in October 2022.  The only caveat is that the first photo depicts it mounted on a 320 S.  The second is mounted on a T@G.  However, I believe they are the same as that being installed on the 400 trailer.

You will have to enlarge them to read the details.  Some of it may be hard to read.  The second photo is better.

I looked online at the Goodyear.com website using 235/75R15 and it says the tire does not match that size.  Odd.  A Google search did not provide a link to the Goodyear website for the tire.  They do have the Wrangler DuraTrac OR Kelly Safari in that size.

I checked Tirerack.com using the same size, which displayed, but the photo included is a 245/75R15.

Discount Tire has the 235/75-R15 listed with a load index of 105S (2039 lbs). I did some digging a few days back, and there’s not much out there on this tire being used for trailers. Saw a post on another forum from about two years ago that Forest River had shipped a few trailers with them; at the time, there was some speculation it  was a supply chain substitute. Couldn’t really find anything else, which doesn’t make me comfortable with this as a choice to replace mine.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I went to their site as well and Trail Runners didn't even come up even though they appear to be at Amazon, Walmart and a couple of other places. 

I think I've researched just about every ST and LT tire that exists. There are plenty of affordable ST tires out there with E rated sidewalls, load indexes in the 110+...but I don't know if I want that stiff of a sidewall. Just more opportunity for things to get bumped around, loosened up, etc. I'd rather go with a C, B or XL load range.

If you to to Nucamp's site they're actively advertising the tire as a "premium" feature of their trailers so it sounds like they're a permanent change from the Apex Rainier tire. They list the tire sizes but as per usual, they've listed the incorrect sizes for all of the trailers. I think they have a 205 width for all of them which can't be right. 

The load index on the Trail Runners for the 235/75/r15 size is 105 which is just barely over the GAWR of the 400. I don't know if that's a bad thing but at $105/tire, it's hard to say no. I'm also not sure what the load range is...my guess is it's just a 4-ply tire which maybe is fine.

@manyman297 Load range on the 235 on Discount’s site is listed as “SL”…standard load, and yes, 4 ply. Agree the price is very tempting, and it’s probably less risky on a Tag or 320. I don’t know enough about trailer tires to say for certain what is or isn’t safe, which is why I’m leaning towards the conservative & more expensive route here, and I’ll likely go with the Endurance.

Unless someone can convince me these are good enough… (please do, you’d be saving me money!)

Yeah, I'm not sure I feel comfortable with SL tires. XL and up I'd be ok with. Conversely I don't think I'd want an E rated tire on the trailer. I have E rated tires on my truck (it's the only ones they had in the size I needed) and regret it. Very harsh ride and going over small bumps can actually be a safety issue on the highway. But many of the ST tires are E rated.

But I agree. If these Trail Runners are good enough to use as OEM then maybe I'd just go with them. I guess we'll find out in 2-3 years as people use them.

@manyman297 I’ve talked with a couple Boondock owners who’ve gone the Endurance 225/75-R15 route and say the ride actually improved over the Rainiers. I’m personally not thrilled with the 80 psi those run at, for the simple reason that my inexpensive but reliable inflator can’t go that high, and a decent inflator that can will cost me, on top of the increase in tire price.

But I’m out of time. My Rainiers will hit 5 years in August, and I need to make a decision on what to put on next.

I don’t doubt the ride would be better with the Endurance tire. The Rainiers have been fine but they are knobby and probably add some resistance. 

My Rainiers have begun to crack after two years (posted about the issue maybe a couple of weeks ago). They’re sending me a check so I can’t complain too much. It should cover most of the cost to replace the tires. 

80psi is crazy. I have doubts my inflator will go that high too. Something to consider.

@manyman297 and @VictoriaP, keep in mind that the load rating is per tire.  I am planning on buying the Goodyear Endurance 225/75R15 and contacted Goodyear Customer Service.  They told me that I do not need to inflate to 80 PSI.  I can inflate based on my load.  I'm thinking I will set the PSI at 65 lbs, but haven't totally decided.  My 320 S GVWR is 2800 lbs and the GAWR is 2900 lbs.  Therefore, the Endurance rating of 2830 is way more than I need, but I like the 10-ply and the diameter of the tire (28.3"), which is very close to the Rainier Apex diameter (28.8").
