How do I know my Fantastic Fan motor is dying?

I called FF about 2, what I thought were unrelated items. First, my FF developed a horrible squeak. Second, it blew a fuse whenever I reversed the air flow direction.It turns out that both are symptoms of a bad motor. FF is shipping me a new one for just the cost of shipping. I will call them back in a week or so and have it shipped to my niece, in Boulder.

    Wow. I'm glad you called FF! They seem like such nice people. The inner decorative piece on my FF broke off at one of the corner screws and they immediately sent me another insert.

    Sometimes the fuse will blow if you quickly and suddenly change the fan direction, especially if it's running at full speed.  Give it a moment to spin down before reversing it, if that's the case.

    That's how it started. Now it does it if I bring it all of the way to a stop. She said the squeak was a bad motor, too.
