Awesome shots @Toefoot!!! Your Outback is unique. do you have an extra step to get in because of the lift? I'm old and have a bum foot, so I take little steps and need the extra platform to step up.

Maumee Bay State Park, Oregon Ohio. 11/17/17. Rainy. 2" expected today. This state park sits on Lake Erie. Campsites with electricity available all year. Paved sites. Heated showers and toilets until December 1st. impeccably clean and delightfully quiet. Off season so much wildlife. Canadian geese overhead and on the ground. Herons, hawks, and bunnies. Deer everywhere. Rain or not, nice to walk throughout the park. Fog, haze and mist obscure the lake, but it's beautiful in its own way. Site fees only $ 26, at this time. Cozy, toasty and warm after our walk. Thank you Nücamp!

Just came back from a 3 day trip to Kickapoo Cavern State Park near Rocksprings, TX and had a great stay. This is a small, very remote, very dark park with only 14 campsites (only four of those have hookups). Incredible stargazing. The park has a bat cave that houses 1 million plus bats but they typically have taken off for Mexico by this time. They are starting the migration a little late this year so just after dusk I was able to see them take off for their night flight. Just before they come out you can hear them start to spin at the bottom of the cave until they are wrapped into a "bat tornado" and then start to exit. It takes about 2 hours for all of them to make their way out. I was standing only about 20 feet from the cave entrance so they were zipping past my head as they made their exit. What an experience! Also toured an undeveloped cavern on the property. No sidewalks, handrails or gift shop.....just a hard hat and a flashlight. Treated to a beautiful sunset. And had a very nice campsite visitor. What a trip!

Great pics @foxden! I didn't know about this place. There are so many state parks in Texas. We went on a 3 night trip to the Palo Duro Canyon last week and loved the natural beauty, and the weather (will post pictures soon). Love the picture of the armadillo! Don't ever touch one though, some carry leprosy. I would love the caves and bats, but my husband, not so much!
Thanks for sharing @foxden. Your camp set up is cute. Do you have a problem using the bbq on the plastic table cloth? You are very brave to be swarmed by bats! Yikes, I'd be inside!

Kofa National Wildlife Refuge, near Palm Canyon, at the very end of Palm Canyon Road. Perfect little boondock spot that fit the Tab perfectly. 33.21N 114.06W. Behind me about a mile is Palm Canyon, and a mountain peak that goes to 4500 ft. (This is about 2200 feet).
@dsfdogs Thanks! The tablecloth has been great for the bbq table. Easy to keep things clean and the heat has never been an issue. @dragonsdofly the bats are really amazing. We have several caves in this area that you can visit and watch the nightly flight typically March through October. Worth a trip to see it.

Mother Nature has a great sense of humor! I have had a trip to Lost Maples State Natural Area planned for about 7 months. Monday was around 80 degrees and beautiful. I left for my trip on Tuesday. And then it snowed! Not a big deal for many of you, but for South Texas, it was quite unexpected. And beautiful. The Alde worked perfectly, the campground was practically empty (it is typically very busy this time of year) and the drive to the park was gorgeous!

Haha @larrygon and @ericnliz Around here we call that a blizzard and it can result in mayhem on the streets! It does melt the next day, requiring no shoveling, but ours won't return for another 10 or 15 years.
