VERY nice! Since I'm just the only human in the camper (bike has shoes, but doesn't take them off willingly), I just keep my never-gonna-die black crocks in a plastic shoe box.

I installed a piano hinge on the aft end and you can lift on the original handle on the bench top. As far as shoes, the floor is so small seems they need a place to go, my wife like's her flip flops, and flats, plus Keen sandals for hiking. we live in the PNW and its wet a lot so the floor gets to be a mess if you wear shoe's inside. working on boot storage now, we fly fish so we need to place wading boots to dry and stuff.

We ran into shoes collecting at the door when the tent was not set up. Going to try this. The bathroom is a good storage area! A 41 inch shower stall tension rod. Think I may use another one as a towel bar on the long wet bath wall. 2 for $8 at Amazon!
@ChanW, I got the idea from PXLated and his use of that ledge. I was expecting a narrower circumferance rod when I ordered it as I have 2 other thin tension rods that hold our towels, but this one works, too. Just be careful as too much tension can cause the caulking to separate from the shower pan. Lesson learned.
Having shoes (with associated smells) inside my sleeping area is a no go for me. We have a small plastic bin that sits just outside the door for our shoes. That and our step is the only thing in the floor of the T@B during travel.
Now just a minute here. A normal (?) camper needs a pair of galoshes for mud and water, a pair of flip flops for showers and maybe general wearing, a pair of hiking shoes or boots, a pair for just general stuff, and maybe a go to town pair…and times two. So that is ten pair.. We’ll need more storage ! There are however, probably those that do it all with one or two pair. Shoes, shoes never too many I guess.🤗
In my deliberations on shoe storage, I thought about getting net "pockets" like the one linked below from Amazon, and attaching them to the passenger-side bench of my 2018 320S. The only issue is, every single one of these that I can find online is 9.8" tall, but the free area on the bench (to avoid blocking the top and bottom vents) is 9". So it would be unavoidable to partially block one or both vents.
Is that a complete no-no? I guess I could put them under the bench lid, much as the OP, @BirdieJane did. I don't usually take many shoes with me -- a pair of hikers and a pair of sandals.
Another alternative would be to attach them to the door (my door pre-dates the models that have any sort of storage on it, just plain), but I'm not sure I like that idea and not sure about drilling screws into the door.
I agree with Carol (aka Mouseketab). Two pairs of shoes are enough and keep all of them outside or at least the second pair in the truck. Well, unless you are Imelda Marcos.

We were staying at a small campground in NM, with fairly private sites, and overnight we left our hiking shoes outside the door, just under the Tab. Awoke in the morning to find one of each pair gone! We looked around the site a bit, no luck. Hmmmm! Within a minute or two, a nice fellow came by on his way to breakfast and, noticing our consternation he said, 'I bet you're looking for some shoes!'.... (How did he know!?!) 'Well, my dog brought me a couple of gifts this morning'..... Labrador. Three campsites down. Figures. We all had a good laugh. And learned a good lesson!

Then how am I going to catch him "red-pawed"!!! I know that signature paw print anywhere. Besides, he likes socks, mostly on his ears.
This is on my niece's bed when she was at school.... bad Harvey! He was playing with her stuffed hedgehog too. The real one was asleep.

I might just attach the ends of the rod with Command Strip velcro.
