There is no correct one, and don’t get too paranoid. Just get a good strong coupler lock and whatever you do don’t forget to put it on your trailer when you unhook the towing vehicle. It is a wake-up call when you drive up to your trailer and realize that you forgot to put the lock on when you left earlier.
I use the 8 ft, toughened cable, looping it around the axil and through the tire rim. The other lock through the 2 chains making them too short to use by thieves and at the same time locking hitch.
I bought a ft Knox lock with the stainless steel abloy puck lock for it. It encases the safety chain hooks too. We left the tab for the first time this past trip in Georgia and felt very comfortable. We also have the wheel chock locks for each wheel. Enough of a deterrent for the investment we make.
It's unfortunate that we need to do these things. I have: a wheel lock that doubles as a chock, lug locks on both wheels and the spare, a lock on the coupler and I keep the "legs" down. I'm more worried about it being stolen from the driveway than while camping.
Just make sure any padlock has at least security pins in the tumbler. Those can't be easily raked open. Without security pins, you can pick many of those things in 2-3 seconds.
Make sure you tuck those chains up so it can't get taken by just hooking up the chains and getting towed away. A coupler lock paired with wheel locks is a safe bet.
Bottom line is that all people who are looking to steal something are looking for the easy take. Make it difficult enough they just move on to find a less difficult item to steal. I also have the Proven Industries lock but if they want it bad enough, they will have it regardless.

@USSBird I just purchased the same 2178-a proven industries lock as you have pictured above for our 2022 400bd. I cannot seem to get the chains to fit inside the lock. If you are able, could you please send a photo of how that looks inside the lock so I can just copy what you've done? Also, I'm wondering what the part on your trailer that clamps down to the ball looks like. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
@B11 I am not near my T@b right now to take pics. Check out this video, it shows how to put on the PI 2178-A. You can fit more of the chains into the lock housing body than she does, but you will get the idea. If you need more pics let me know I will post some when possible. https://youtu.be/XIIljhSOq_M?t=343
@USSBird Thank you. This was very helpful. I wasn't able to see this prior to our trip but I had figured out that hooks go into the bottom of the large piece and the chain links need to be placed vertically through the side slots so to speak. This video confirmed what I had done was accurate. I also noticed that the chains should be twisted to make them shorter so that in the event of a thief attempting to steal the camper, they would have to cut the chains hopefully rendering them too short for any use. Thanks again for sharing. Brian
@B11 Cool, glad the video helped. After I posted up the original pics, it was pointed out to me you could steal theT@B by just hooking up to the extra length of chains. So we indeed do now twist before stowing in the lock housing (hooks first) to help prevent this theft technique. Probably should shorten the safety chains as they are too long when towing too. I just don't have the tools to cut the chain links. So I twist. Safe travels.
I realize the posts here are very old but nevertheless for others that are browsing this. Please go take a gander at the following. I bought their locking solution for my TAB 400. https://ftknoxlocks.com/lock-fails
Thank you @bimmer. I will look it up. Safety is something worth an upgrade every now and then. One can never be overconfident.
