How Many Bed Slats?

I am converting my 2007 Dutchmen T@B ro use rails and slats for the bed.  Are the 5 slats in the kit enough.  MY T@B seat is not reinforced and I am concerned it will sag between slats.  Do the new T@B seats have a rigid bottom?

The seats are just cushions on top of the benches.  The foam was upgraded by the factory in 2016, so the newest Tabs have firmer cushions.  If the slats are relatively close together, there is no sag between the slats.  Do you currently use only your table to support the cushions?

Yes, I do.  I have the slat kit on order and became concerned when I saw some applications using more slats.

I think the factory slats do have gaps, but I suspect they work just fine.

Before it was standard on T@Bs, many of us made our own slats. Most versions used enough slats to fill the whole space. That's probably why you are seeing different applications.

I think the clamshell uses 8 slats and the S model kit uses less as there is less space to fill?

I may have to put a few more slats in.  My cushions are the older more pliable ones.

We used 9 inch poplar boards.  Works well.
