This link (and other links in the thread) discusses what the "pitched axle" is on the Outback/Boondock editions. The bottom line is: about three extra inches of ground clearance. Here is another thread that specifically mentions the 400: warning:techy details! Here is a video of what the axle looks like:And a bunch of threads if you really enjoy the subject:

It is an off the shelf Dexter axle AFAIK. Dexter makes axles where you can get a lift or drop, they change the angle in the way the "lever arms" mount to the axle to create the different heights.Start angles available: 45° down, 32° down, 22.5°down, 10° down, 0°, 10° up, and 22.5° up2019 T@B 400 Boondock Lite

Thanks all...so it seems there is a tangible difference between the standard 400 and the boondock model height-wise/road clearance.2021 2024 T@b 400 Black Canyon, 2020 Ram Rebel 1500

@xdr I think about 3" higher? The axle adds some height and the bigger tires add the rest. Besides the height, BDL adds a few other things, aluminum tub, new models now also have the aluminum platform (was NOT available pre 2020), different entry grab handle, graphics. I think that is about it.2019 T@B 400 Boondock Lite

We have the 2018 400 and the axle is 3500lbs. Nu Camp told me, they changed to a 3900lb or 4000lb about a year later. Doing some checking with Dexter supplier and was told the 4000lb is a 6 bolt hub. Can any one check this and is it also a 6 bolt on the 3900lb or can we use our standard wheels and tires from our 2018? I think the 4000lb is on the boondock and the 3900 is for the regular 400. I understand the boondock uses different tires, wider but still a 15 inch rim. Thanks!

Five lug wheels on my 2019 400 BDL. AFAIK there are no six lug hubs/wheels used on NuCamp trailers although could be on the Avia? Your current wheels should work on the BDL axle.2019 T@B 400 Boondock Lite

Thanks for checking your 2019 BDL. I wonder if the 2020's BDL have the 6 bolt. I saw a picture of the optional black wheel in the flyer and it looks as though it may be 6 bolt. Waiting on my info from my Dexter dealer. Would like to go with the 4000lb but the 3900 would work. Just don't need the extra 3 inches of height. I am working with a 9 ft door in our shop!
