Cat Mod

I was recently adopted by a Tabby cat. Can't leave him home while I am out in the trailer so he has to come with me. First issue I faced was where to put the litter box. Easy solution actually--in the bathroom after covering the floor drain so the absorbent kitty litter doesn't get into the gray tank. Not even Happy Camper would handle that! Then I realized that the cat needed unrestricted access to the litter box. Either that or I would need to be a very attendant doorman for him. So I fabricated a gadget to hold the door slightly open so he can squeeze in on his own. I used some scrap poplar, a 4" spring door stop, and a very thin mouse pad. The mouse pad is the black stuff on the inside to keep from scuffing the door. The gadget fits over the top of the door. It is only needed while camped. If you leave it in place while traveling the door will swing back and forth as you move. The litter box rides really well on the floor of the shower. haven't had any spillage issues at all.

Very clever solution to holding the door open, I like to leave our washroom door slightly open when we are not using the trailer to promote air flow. This would keep the door open very nicely.

Nice job! Someone else cut a hole in the door for the cat!Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio

Haha awesome. We take our cat sometimes when camping, she loves the front cubby area with the porthole window. Usually stick the litterbox under the dinette as we rarely eat inside. Thought many times about a better place for it though...2020 T@B 400 Boondock Lite - 2018 Toyota Tundra Platinum - Tempe AZ

I couldn't find Katt one morning. I was afraid I had inadvertently let him out at some point. Usually he doesn't like me to be out of his sight. I found him stuffed into the rear upper shelf of the driver's side cubby. He seemed quite happy there as he could watch the folks next door through the porthole without them knowing it. I've got a peeping tom on my hands!
