Alde Exhaust Fan Troubleshooting and Removal Videos.

A FB member had a Fan Failure message on the Alde during the recent "big freeze" in Texas. All the basic troubleshooting available on these pages didn't help. She called NuCamp, and Creed walked the owner through the process of opening up the Alde and having a look at the fan. It helped a bit that this owner had just gone through a training course to become a certified RV Tech, and that experience certainly helped her out in this case. And, of course, another shoutout to NuCamp and Creed's customer service.

This is what she found when the fan was dug out. The little bug prevented the fan from operating. Removed bug, replaced fan, back to normal.

Creed provided the following videos as a guide. Both are less than a minute long. Bring your Torx bits. This appears to be a very easy process.

And: how did it get in there? Is the fan that finely balanced that a tiny thing like that would prevent it from spinning? Who knows?

I assume it probably crawled in through the exhaust. I'm not certain their is any real barrier between the blower and the outside. Seems like this would be a more common occurrence, though I too am surprised it would shut down the works.

Just out of curiosity, I might pull that cover in the spring and do a little inspecting of the Alde's nether regions.

This this is one of the reasons to add a stainless steel,screen cover over the Alde exhaust vent, to keep these buggers out.

Great! Thanks. Removed fan and appears to be OK. Spins fine, no binding. Re-installed (was reset by removing DC before removing fan). Appears to work fine now. Know if there are any altitude issues? We were at 9100' when the error occurred.
