Trying to lighten tongue weight- looking to stow spare tire under cabin bench in storage space. Any words of wisdom?

  You can mount it on your yakima rack with a basket and spare tire holder for about $200.  If you have a Yakima Rack.  I did not see any mention of your model in your post.

  If I put up a basket- how / to what , does basket attach without damage to outer skin of camper?

  Keep in mind your need to retrieve the tire if you ever need it.  The under bench option reduces storage space.  

  What are you towing with that you need to lighten your tongue weight?

  You can find directions for installing the rack and basket here. It does require drilling into the roof at very precise locations.
