Year? The standard door lock, or the RV Lock? And, are you working on the actual lock or the striker plate on the trailer?

Or are you talking about the doohicky on the side of the trailer that holds the door open?

Our door open holder worked for three years, so I just ended up replacing it with the same type of unit, available at our local RV repair shop. This got the latch fixed quickly and didn’t require any new holes or modifications to install. While not the most elegant solution, but it works. Also allowed me to use the existing mounting holes.Another consideration was on stronger latches, like a hook and eye used on boats, was where to screw the hook on the trailer side, as the Azdel is not going to hold it very well when stressed, and could result in damage to the Azdel siding in a high wind situation. The OEM solution, releases the door in a high wind situation, without any damage.Cheers2018 TaB400 Custom Boondock, Jeep Gladiator truck, Northern California Coast.

clarified the plastic latch at bottom of entry door that holds door open ( unless it is worn out like mine)

Perhaps putting a small piece of color-matching duct tape on the contact portion of the door latch might create enough "grab" when inserted into the wall side of the latch. Several pieces could be applied until there is enough grab to keep the door open but still allow release in a high wind situation as mentioned above. The tape could then be glued onto the door side as a more permanent fix.2016 Outback 320

The replacement latch assembly that matches the OEM is less than $10, and easy to find at most RV parts and accessories stores. A lot of RVs use this part to hold doors open.
