Black tank

Hi. Does the black tank only fill from the toilet or does it include bathroom sink and/or shower?

    With full hookups should I leave the black tank drain closed until it’s close to full so that the enzyme treatment can work? It seems that if it’s left open “stuff” will just sit there until there’s enough liquid to help it drain.

    The water from several flushes will soften all the shtuff in it and make emptying the tank flow so much better.

    Never leave the black tank valve open while hooked up. That’s how you end up with the dreaded poop pyramid directly beneath the toilet. Open that valve only when you’ve got a decent mix of liquids with your solids, preferably around 2/3 full, and when you have plenty of water to flush the tank out after dumping.

    You do NOT want to deal with the mess that can occur from not having enough liquid to push things along. Anyone who’s dealt with a poorly maintained black tank in a used RV can attest.

    Most T@Bs have a separate black and gray tank, but the early Pleasant Valley T@Bs (2012-2014?) have a single combined tank.
