While I have no specific knowledge, it seems reasonable that any coatingon your solar panel (no matter how clear it may appear) will likely diminish the performance of the panels to some degree.
@FriendsofMario, I agree with the above comments. If you want to apply a protective coating, it is recommended that you use a Hydrophobic solar panel coating and cleaner. They sell it on Amazon.
