Toilet Flange Sealant

Does anyone know what this black sealant is that they used around the toilet flange? It feels like lap sealant but not sure if there is anything special about it as they used white in other places but black around the toilet where nobody would see it. It's very malleable and is definitely not silicone.

Not much help, but FWIW my toilet had white sealant that resembled silicone, and its application was not nearly as neat as yours. However, it's worked fine for eight seasons.

You could contact Customer Care at nüCamp and ask them for their recommendations. Best to get this type of info first hand.

mjwaldner , Hi did you ever get to the bottom of this? I am replacing my toilet flange seal on our 2021 400 BD and came across the same thing. I plan to leave it alone and just clean up the area where the new seal will make contact with the flange but wondered if you had additional details.
Thanks for any info!2021 400 Boondock / Jax, FL

Yes. Creed @ nuCamp told me it was Liquid Butyl. Thats what I used and have not had any problems.2021 T@B 400 BD

If your curious what is under that floor this is a photo I took when I was repairing the black tank flush port on our 400.

@mjwaldner
Was the black tank flush leaking where it enters the black tank? I have a bad feeling that is where I have a leak which I thought was coming from the black tank flush check valve but that wasn't the source.2021 400 Boondock / Jax, FL

Yes. I think it was overtightened when the camper was assembled and it cracked over time. Or it just had a manufacturing defect. I have spoke with multiple 400 owners from who have had this same problem.
I took this picture with a borescope when I originally figured out were the lead was coming from.

Dang, that's not what I wanted to hear. The fix looks quite invasive. I guess one option is to just not use the tank flush. Appreciate the info and the pics!2021 400 Boondock / Jax, FL

I was curious to know if it only leaked when I was flushing the tank or if it would leak all the time. I filled my black tank up all the way and let it sit for some time. I looked at it through the borescope and I did not see it leak. But when I tried to flush it with water pressure it started to leak. So in my case not using the black tank flush appeared to be an ok solution.2021 T@B 400 BD
