Any suggestions for purchasing a low pressure camp stove to use with the LP quick connect at the rear fo the 360?

See your other post re tanks. I looked at a lot of low pressure stoves and none really fit the bill. Wound up with a Camp Chef that has been fantastic. It's high pressure though, and is split off the tank before the regulator. Had

wanted to use that quick connect, but it's just not as easy as you'd think it would be.

Retired engineer here, who recently went down this rabbit hole. Quick answers are, Blackstone (all), Weber traveler RV (hard to store) and Weber Q1200 (with this conversation kit). Amazon has gas hose options for these choices; keep the hose length on the short side (8-14') as pressure drops for total length of pipe/hose from LP tank, affecting grill performance. You can always remove the LP regulator off a grill or stove, but this is not a sure thing, depending on the grill - I chose not to go there.

Plan B: Install a "Y" or "T" on the outlet of the 20 pound LP cylinder as Gomers2 pictured. This will allow you to use any grill/stove…and a longer hose too. You will be "somewhat" limited to grill/stove location.

My choice? My end game for my camper is for my wife and I is to travel 3-4 weeks at a time, touring national parks. Being limited to griddle only, or grill only, meals is not an option. We ended up buying a Camp Chef Everest X2 camp stove, Lodge cast iron reversible griddle plate and a 5 lb LP grower kit. I may install a tee at my 20 lb tank as well, as Gomers2 pictured; Nice to have options.

The Camp Chef Everest is really solid. We started with a lodge pan and moved to the GreenPan set, which is also great, and lighter. Stove goes on a 2x2 folding table in front, with the storage tub top as a work area as well.

Moved from a standard 17" Blackstone griddle to their new griddle with a side burner. Both run on a low pressure system. Both highly recommended.

We've been using a Camp Chef Ranger II stove for four years now. First three years connected to the low pressure connector on our T@B and the last year on a Y directly off the tank.

Just to comment on the Nexgrill that @Mouseketab linked to above. We use to go through an outdoor grill every couple of years. They'd rust out and basically fall apart. We finally broke down and bought a stainless steel Nexgrill about a dozen years ago and it's still hanging in there. Had to rebuild the burners a couple of time, but other than that, it's held up really well. I highly recommend the brand (hoping that it hasn't changed hands since our purchase).

Important note:

Not all camp stoves will operate safely on a low pressure connection (most wont). Using a normal camping stove on a low pressure connection can lead to low flame, low heat, hard to light, and chance of going out in the wind leading to a dangerous explosive condition. Typically a stove that works off the little Coleman type green bottles is a high pressure stove and shouldn't be use on a low pressure connection with it's regulator removed. It's not just the stoves regulator that makes it high or low pressure. It's also the design of the actual burners. Always check with the manufacturer to make sure the stove is designed to be used on a low pressure RV connection. A normal camping stove designed for high pressure should be connected to the main tank before the camper's regulator using the stoves hose and regulator and never to the campers low pressure quick release connector.

@phillm47 I also recommend the Camp Chef Everest X2, great stove. The only complaint (for me) is that the propane connection is a stiff propane tube that exists the side of the stove for the tank connection. After digging a bit, I found a guy who converted the stove's original propane connection to a quick disconnect. With that conversion, I can easily attach the propane source and not have that bulky setup. I tend to carry and extra 20lb tank anyway so this way the stove setup is very easy to use.= but it is a bit of an investment

I changed up his parts links a bit to reduce cost. Also got a regulator with pressure gauge so I could set the regulator to 15psi rather than just eyeballing the flame.

Basically:
1. take hose w/regulator/Gauge, add 3/8" Flare to 1/4"NPT then add in QK plug to 1/4" end

2. Remove the knurled end from right angle QK, remove the knurled end from the end of the sacrificial regulator and attach to the right angle.

When completed, it all fits into the stove for easy packing.

@phillm47 thanks, that's an interesting idea. I think I'll have to do it! Care to share your specific parts? I already have the 6-ft hose with no regulator so I need to find one that can go between the tank and the hose I have. I've never been a fan of the Camp Chef mini regulator on that rigid tube, The leverage it exerts seems precarious.

@Gomers2 I'm not sure which idea you are referencing in my post. Here is a link to the growler kit I purchased. I paid $105 on sale. I'm sure something like this can be pieced together for less, but the Ignik is a nice, quality kit.

I did something similar with a Camp Chef Kodiak (the Everest’s little brother). I added a dedicated shutoff valve at the tank Tee fitting for the stove line, and then ran that line to the stove. The extra shut-off valve allows me to keep the gas flowing to the camper while cutting off flow to the second line when the stove isn’t hooked up.

I found that I need to open that dedicated cutoff valve halfway only at first when I start the stove, otherwise the higher pressure from the LP tank overwhelms the low pressure regulator for the stove. Once it’s fired up I can open the valve the rest of the way.

SO, I’ll be adding a second cut off at the stove, between the gas hose and the stove regulator. I found the connector fittings on Amazon for less that $20, and I already have a 1/4” NPT shutoff valve on hand with my air tool stuff.

@abriddell and anyone else following; the following is from Camp Chef tech support ~ "Most Camp Chef stoves feature a safety bypass valve. If the propane tank valve is opened too quickly, the stove's regulator can lock into a low-flow safety mode, starving the burner of gas and causing a weak, yellow flame."

@phillm47 I purchased the new fitting that you recommended for the Weber Q1200 which just so happens to work for the Q1000 as well. I purchased it today and expected to get in the next 2 weeks. Thanks for that tip!
