City Water Cap

My city water cap does not seem to want to stay on anymore. Has anyone else had this problem? Does the entire fitting need to be replaced, or is there an alternative?

On mine, it is open, then a little rubber flap. I broke the previous rubber flap, then went to a standard RV store and got a replacement. Not sure how the Little Guy city water is configured, but at any rate, it should be a standard RV replacement item.

Ours wouldn't stay on either.

There are screw in replacements with tether. Google...

Mine gave up the ghost too, so I bought a threaded cap and that isn't going to pop off.

Mine never has stayed on so my simple solution was to use a cheap blow-out plug...

Cspur at Tabazona recommended putting a nickel in the cap to keep it on (I think). I removed the flip cap and replaced it with a hose plug from an RV shop. Wish I knew about the nickel trick.

Yes, I can never get the rubber cap to stay on either. I have also done what PXLated has done.

Mine neither - I thought about putting a piece of plumbing tape on the inside to give it a snug fit but didn't have any when I was leaving a state park - so used black electrical tape (!) and so far it's holding.

New cap - with better seal. This one has a lip that makes it a more snug fit.

We tried the nickel in ours (Canadian nickel = 3.5 cents) It was too tight to fit, but strangely stretched the cap enough to make a new tight fit. This might be temporary, but the cap is holding for now.

Great discussion and ideas. Be careful if you are using any
type of rv cover as the water cap that protrudes will wear a hole in the cover in no time.
