Possible solution for non-priming water pump?

We have a 2014 S-Max and the water pump this trip has been failing to prime on its own. Just runs but won't prime. Tried turning on the faucet and still nothing. What worked is holding open the toilet flush valve. At first, you get the residual water left in the system, then air for a number of seconds, then the pump started priming. No problems after that. Your mileage may vary but it has worked twice for me so far.

My last trip I lost water pressure and tried almost everything I could. Then I added water and fixed the problem. Did I really tell that about myself? Good tip. I've had similar things happen that I attributed to air trapped somewhere in the distribution system. Opening different outlets probably gives it a way to work its way out.

There's a little gnome that hides in my tank and every time I turn it on, he hammers the hell out of the side of the tank. I keep thinking I'll take my gun out there and shoot him, but he seems to enjoy it so much I just let him have at it. As long as I get water, who cares?

Mine bangs for a bit after refilling the tank and then settles down. Figure the filling adds some air gaps and once they work out everything quiets down.

Gremlin! That's the creature I was looking for. I suspect gnomes are a bit more pleasant to deal with. At any rate, they seem to visit at the most inopportune time.

I dewinterized and put water in tank and pump runs but no water.... 2 corrective actions:
1. Cleaned water filter... nasty...
2.added more water to fresh tank cuz trailer was not near level, very low on left side.
Needed both. -
It’s probably house elves, they are a very pesky lot!
