    Not sure I just know it is LED. You can snap off the plastic cover and tell. There are a lot of lights in that little strip.

    We made it through two nights dry camping in a national park with no problems.  We even watched movies on the DVD player at night. I'm sure you can do it.

    I brought along a small inexpensive D-battery operated LED lantern this trip (Big Lots) and used it when overnighting without being connected to power. It has a dimmer on it. I used it to conserve battery and it worked great. I thought it could be handy in case I needed to do anything outside the camper in the dark. Didn't need it for that, but I was glad to have had it.

    I have been using one of these in my interior - overhead by the fan -  for a couple of years.  The light is very bright when needed and dims down to night light level with just a touch.  There is also a 12 inch version available from the same seller.


    Thanks, Bob. I' ve only found battery operated and this is perfect with 12V and dimmable settings. Since I camp so much without electricity, I rarely use the over-the-counter light because you can just see the battery voltage drop. I've been known to use a small rechargeable lantern when washing dishes or cooking, rather than turn on the energy hog light. 
    @rfuss928 Thank you!  Two days shipping. I have had this new light on for over 15 minutes and the battery has stayed at the same power level!  Now I can use the over sink/stove light when I'm camping without electricity. No batteries to change--the "house" batteries will take care of it.

    I just replaced my under cabinet LED lights with a new brighter dimmable (with its own switch) for $18 and the current draw is 0.28 A at max brightness (for reference, one rear sconce is 0.25A).     There are Group 24 deep cycle that can supply 100 AH of power or more and they will drop into the stock battery box.  My dealer gave me a combo deep cycle cranking battery that was only rated at 55 AH.  I nearly doubled this by swapping it for a 100 AH battery.  And the battery I added was a true deep cycle battery which will work better then the combo.  I can't say enough about my 160 watt Zamp panels.  With sunny weather I have no issues keeping my battery charged.  Still waiting to camp in extended overcast weather to see how we do.  We are fairly miserly with electric use but don't hesitate to watch a movie at night.  One thing we don't use is the Jensen stereo for music.  We have found that a Bose bluetooth speaker and an iPhone provide great sound and use much less electricity.

    lapowers57, Do you recall the brand Group 24 deep cycle battery you purchased that has 100 AH? I also use solar [Renogy 100 watt suitcase w/controller model], and wouldn't choose another avenue since we "dry camp" [boondock] quite a bit. Just looking for a better AH battery. Thanks
