Funny, my name is Allen and I waxed our T@B this weekend. I use Meguire's cleaner wax on everything we own, cars boats etc. Decent protection and easy. I don't really care how shiny it is, just want to protect

I'll ditto above as well! New synthetic finishes are far superior, IMO. Purpose? With a good shiny (smooth) surface, washing a T@B becomes --almost-- as easy as hosing it off. Sheds dirt very well.

Helps with getting tree sap off too. Just added protection, and would rather take the time to add than not.

I wax with whatever I'm doing my cars with: this year is McGuires. Some of my "old guy with old Porsches" friends have recently gone back to Turtle Wax.

ericnliz are right about the tree sap. We waxed our T@B shortly after we picked it up and we were very glad we did. After a camping stay in Acadia this fall we were covered with some sort of tree sap from the oak trees at the camp ground. If it wasn't for the wax, I think I would have needed some sort of solvent the get the sticky mess off. I waxed it again before putting it up for the winter. I'm also with db_cooper, Meguire's all the way....

Resident scientist hat on... BEWARE!

The sap that drips off of trees is caused by aphids (tiny bugs) that do eat the tap. It's aphid pee. lol.

Has anyone taken their T@b through an automatic car wash? So long as it can handle the 8 foot height, it could be the easiest way to get the dirt off and a coat of wax. I am not one inclined to crawl up and around my vehicles rubbing them down by hand. They get dirty again anyway. Rain is my friend.

I use a pressure washer and maybe a little scrub brush on the thick stuff before putting it up for the year. Never bothered with wax--I have a hard enough time waxing my cars let alone my camper--but the finish still looks great after five seasons.

I am kinda' liking that car wash idea, though... :-)

That’s another way to find leaks! Especially if you know someone trusting enough to ride in the T@B while it goes through the wash cycle.😄

Be careful with a cleaner wax if your finish doesn’t need it, no oxidation. It removes a slight amount of finish each use. I’ll be waxing when it cools down, still in the 90’s here. I like Meguiars or Mothers.

Silly question, but how to you reach the roof? A step ladder would get you high enough, but how to you reach far enough across the roof to apply and remove the wax (or whatever product you're using) without leaning out to an unsafe degree?

@Horigan - Thanks, Rich. I have a long-handled soft-bristled brush for washing that works well; I was asking about applying and removing wax - unless you use a boat brush for that?
