Flagpole Holder for Outback Platform?

I have been trying to think of some different ways to create a flagpole holder for the Outback. Has anyone come up with a solution, yet? I am thinking of something that uses ubolts for either around the bars that come up on each side, even mounting something flat on one of the sides.

@jkjenn, @Dalehelman made some for his handles on his T@B. I'll ask him about it at breakfast this morning. Maybe he'll do one of his picture posts with a description for you. :)

@Dalehelman has the best solution. A chrome fishing pole holder that clamps to the handles of his T@B.

Dale - What's the inside diameter of the opening?

@Tabaz, here are the specs from Amazon:

“1 x marine grade 304 stainless steel rod holder with marine grade 316 clamp-on bracket
    1 x Rubber insert (fitted)
    Tube length 230mm (9")
    Inside diameter 42mm
    Outside tube diameter 52mm
    this is product branded amarine-made“

I had to drill out the plastic bottom so my antenna pole would fit through it. It is very sturdy, but I did not leave it on during travel. You do need a metric Allen wrench to adjust the clamp where it connects to the handle.

I have the chrome fishing holder, too. What I don't like about it is that it is wider than the pole and does not hold the pole, itself, firmly in place. I have used pipe insulation to create a snugger fit but it moves out of place and becomes a hassle.

@jkjenn, I drilled the bottom out so the pole touches the ground. Then I put ball bungies at the top and bottom of the pole holder that also go around the pole to hold it in place. It was holding for a 20 mph wind.  I didn’t risk it for the 40+ mph that were coming.

I like the idea of drilling the bottom out. What kind of rubber insert are you using?

I left the rubber insert intact, but I drilled the bottom out. By using the ball bungies, the pole was snugged up and was held tightly in place. The ground also helped hold the pole in place.

The bolts that came with mine look to be about an 1 1/2”. They could have been another 1/4” longer but they did work. An Ace hardware store will likely have longer ones.
