I just replaced the crank with if I remember a 1/2” bolt. Just pop off the top cover for access. I think it was a 6” bolt. I cut off the thread. Then I drilled a small hole in it to match the crank handle. If you are not good with tools. Ask a friend or neighbor.

It is possible to cut off a little bit of the rod. Say a 1/4". Rethreading the elastic cord can be a little challenging but doable. (View Post) -
