I just got my 2021 T@B400. My TV is a Audi Q5 with factory tow package(4400 lbs/440lbs). No issues so far on my first trip from Portland to the coast over the mountain pass. Getting about 14 mpg. Using the amazing Curt echo bluetooth trailer brake controller and manual engine breaking.
just note that this is also the issue with the Curt wireless controller "by: William03/24/2019 We just took out the curt echo on a week long camping trip. Overall it worked well and as advertised but there was one incident that seemed dangerous. We were going down a particularly steep grade and wanted to turn on our…
All we had to do was add a 7 pin (with heavy gauge wire), a Curt Echo, a WDH and a backup camera. We have lots of room inside the rear hatch to carry all of our extra gear. We plan to add roof racks to carry our ebikes. We always empty the tanks before we tow and avoid all roads with greater than 1/2% inclines.
The Jeep trailer sway control does the job nicely. I have no issues towing the TaB400 with my big Jeep. I am using a Curt Echo wireless, which does not require a fixed installation, it goes between Jeep plug and the trailer connection. Uses you smart phone as a control panel. Using this while I wait for Jeep to get the OEM…
I tow my 2021 230 S with a 2021 Outback. The 4-pin to 7-pin conversion is an easy DIY job if you're comfortable installing the wiring harness and running a couple lines up front to the battery for 12v. I use a Curt Echo bluetooth brake controller. It's not as convenient as a wired-in controller, but if you follow the…
Hi Jean, hate to bring negative vibes to your adventure but lots of people have issues with the Curt Wireless brake controller. There is a recent thread about it. I will find it and link to my post. I had one and it failed (causing trailer brakes to lock up) as is the case for most people who have used it. If it's not too…
Thanks dlb. I put it into 'tow' mode and it came up about an inch. I'm going to wait until I pick up the trailer and fine tune from there. Also will want to see the impact of putting the car into 'off-road' mode. I'm gathering that the electric brake pin on the 7 way isn't hot on my Q7 and will need a brake controller. I…
Hi all, Well, the time is getting closer and closer to when we can actually take our Tab out for its maiden voyage. We've been delayed about 2 months for various logistics and parts issues but that's a story for a different time ... today we finally got our tow hitch receiver installed on our TV! We got home and connected…
One of the mistakes we made was not reading the entire manual on the Curt Echo brake controller before leaving the dealership. It worked fine until we were climbing a steep grade on an icy mountain road and I turned on the truck's hazard lights. We quickly noticed on the iPhone app that the brakes were being activated. I…
No problem! You have lots of options. The Escape comes standard with a 4 pin wiring plug, I believe, so I’m guessing you used an adapter for the 7 pin? If so, you’ll need to have some additional wiring run and a proper 7 pin connector installed. Beyond that, you can have your controller hard wired in the car, or go with a…
