I'm not surprised that so many of you are using Tekonsha P2 or P3 controllers. I'm thinking that I'll try Tekonsha's Prodigy RF controller, which costs more but doesn't require much wiring and is mounted on the T@B rather than under the dash. It also allows the T@B to be towed by any TV that has a 7-pin connector. Are any…
question for anyone using the tekonsha prodigy RF braking system. We ave a 400 and the unit throws c.e. (communication error) codes intermittently. We've moved it away from mobile phones, completely turned mobile phones and moved the unit from the console to the sun visor on both the passenger and driver's sides. Anyone…
hello, i purchased a prodigy RF brake controller in April, had it installed. Used twice and went fine. This third trip on return trip, when I tested blinkers, it caused my car to go on Hazard flashers. AFter that every time I put on blinker, HF went on which wasn't good but have no idea how to stop that. Then first time I…
For the purpose of remote monitoring ARB temperatures, I would like to add a splitter to the same 12v accessory outlet that I use for my Prodigy RF hand piece. I am not sure if the hand piece requires it's own outlet or if this would create a problem for braking. I have previously plugged in the frig monitors using the…
The part that is inside your vehicle, the handheld part that plugs in the accessory port aka the cigarette lighter caught fire Sunday February 4. It has a 5 year warranty that ends February 7th. I talked to tech support on the phone, sent them and email of photos and all the info they wanted but haven’t heard back. Man!…
At last, got everything back together and took out T@boo for her first trip with our new TV (battery cutoff switch both on the TV and on T@boo, a brand new battery on board and a Prodigy RF brake controller).
I should add that Tom's did install the Prodigy RF brake controller, and then I got the braking set about right. That might be one of the more important aspects of picking up your trailer...making sure the brake system working optimally.
I am very happy with the Prodigy RF brake controller. For me, the self taping screws were not as easy to drill as the video and I ended up having to have someone else do it for me. If you look at the photos of it on the Teardrop Shop site, that's my trailer.
I originally wanted to hard-wire a controller into my XC-90, but for a variety of reasons, mostly concerns over how the system could interfere with the Volvo on-board computing system, eventually settled on the Prodigy RF. The controller is exposed, but in a sturdy waterproof housing that is firmly attached to the trailer.…
FWIW, I considered the Curt system but after doing some research, decided to go with the Tekonsha Prodigy RF instead. While some folks have had no problems with the Curt, there were too many reported issues for my taste. There is also the potential of having trouble accessing the Curt in an emergency situation since it…
