As quoted from @irvingj earlier this year concerning the fact that is is NOT a good idea to have Bearing Buddies on a T@B: "Ditto Verna! As mentioned, Bearing Buddies work well to keep moisture out... but are really designed for bearings that may get dunked in water. The issue with a "dry" bearing trailer -- like the T@B--…
IMHO The EZ lube is far superior to bearing buddy’s. EZ lube grease from the back to the front Via a hole in the center of the hub. BB just apply grease to the outside bearing.
Here's a good diagram (from the Dexter service manual) of how the EZLube works: Although they look similar on the face, if I understand Bearing Buddies correctly they are just a cap with a zerk and spring piston that is retrofitted over the outer bearing. The bearings--and the empty hub space between them--are filled with…
Anyone know what type of grease the new factory built TaB bearings are packed with? Filling the tube in a new bearing setup sounds like a good idea. cheers
I have a 2021 tab 320 with approx 7,000 miles on it and will be heading across the country in a month. By the time I come home, I'll be around 12,000 miles. I'm thinking that I should grease the bearings before I go and repack them when I come home. What I don't understand is why my car maintenance schedule just says…
We found out the other day that our 2014 T@B has bearing buddies on it.The giveaway was that the centre cap on the wheels had a removable disc on it to access the grease fitting of the bearing buddy. I pumped in some grease on each side and should be good for the season. Works for our boat, and it weighs 1000 lbs more than…
Verna, thanks for the quote. BTDT describes my experience, taking care of numerous vehicles owned by others while employed as an automotive mechanic, not to mention my own '72 Chevy K5 Blazer that I had for 30+ years and 250+ thousand miles. (Don't ask me about the amount of gasoline that thing consumed! :o ) Bearings are…
