Alde wasn’t starting - bad fuse

we got to the campsite yesterday and when we touched the power button (digital panel), nothing happened. Fortunately, we carry a backup heater so no biggie. I dug in to it today. Opened the panel and found the fuse was ok and the breaker hadn’t been tripped. Pulled up the seat and the plastic access panel and everything was still plugged in. Pulled the two fuses in there and the one closest to the front of the camper was blown. Grabbed a spare and all is good now. BTW - a little tip for not dropping the fuse holders down in the Alde (been there, done that before) is to put duct tape on it and hold the duct tape as you pull it out. The duct tape sticks to your hand and the fuse holder.

Also be careful not to tilt the green holder - the fuse will slide out.

Just happened to me too - took it into the dealer, they found and replaced fuse. Need to get a spare...

We experienced that fuse problem a few times.  We carry a small kit with a fair number of each and a simple tester.  Also did the fuse drop (sounds like an Olympic competition.. Bob, he got a 5.5 on that fuse drop...).   Once down there however, hard to retrieve..

When I did the fuse drop, I put a small piece of duct tape on a stick to fish it out.

I don’t understand how to fish the fuse holder out. Of course I have dropped it into that little space.

How often are these fuses blowing, and under what circumstances ? Thanks.

The fuse seems to most commonly blow when people leave the Alde on and disconnect shore power. The solution is to always turn off the Alde before disconnecting from shore power.

This is no guarantee, but I also have never blown a fuse and other also do not seem to blowing a fuse if they use a Progressive EMS.

I always use my Progressive EMS but forgot to turn off Alde before unplugging. You gessed it. Fuse blew.

I have the 3020 Alde and unlike the pictures on the web, there is only one Green holder, not two. With power off and the middle white connector unplugged, I pulled out the top of the Green holder. Ithis top part contains a fuse that is OK but in the part of the Green holder still in the socket,!there is another fuse that is blown.

But I can’t get it out!  So my questions are: does the whole Green holder pull out? What is the red thing beneath the fuse holder, is it a button that releases the fuse holder? Or am I supposed to fish the blown fuse out! Can I use needle nose pliers?! Does it pull out, doesn’t look like it.

There is only one fuse in my 3020.  It's located in the removable green holder.  The red "button" below it is some type of electrical diode (its definitely not a switch).  I can't see any other fuses.  Can you post a photo?

Here’s a picture of the controls. The lowest arrow points to the green top  I removed with the good fuse. The upper arrow points to the green holder still in its socket wth the dark fuse inside it. Does the rest of the green holder pull out. Every single resource I’ve checked stops short of showing how r

That is the exact same configuration as my unit.  The only user-serviceable fuse is the one in the green holder (bottom arrow in your photo).  The green portion of the holder that is attached to the Alde does not come out.  The red thing is some type of electronic component permanently attached to the circuit board.  Not sure what you mean by "dark fuse inside it."  I believe ChanW found a mystery fuse that he had to solder to the circuit board.  Maybe he can chime in here.

The picture the picture I took doesn’t show it well, but it’s just another fuse that’s black between the ends, like a blown fuse would be. I was sure that is the problem with the Alde not starting up. Rats.

I'd replace the fuse in the green holder anyway, plug the power connector back in, and see if it starts up.

There is also a blade fuse for the Alde in the converter.  Make sure its not blown.  See "fuses for Newbies" in the Manual/PDF section of this site.

I did replace the fuse in the outer holder... I decided you we’re probably right and what I thought was a blown fuse is just a discolored bar of metal. I will check the blade fuse today. Thanks for the prompt attempt to help, much appreciated!

One more thing.  Make sure the 3-prong plug is in the outlet!  Several people posted in the past that the cord will come loose with vibration from traveling.

Now wondering if that Alde outlet is on the same circuit as the GFI outlet on the driver's side seat pedestal.  If it is, and the GFI is tripped, that could be the problem.

Not the same AC circuit--at least not on mine. The Alde, air conditioner, and refrigerator each have their own dedicated circuit. The cabin and exterior outlets share one circuit, and all are protected by the GFCI outlet under the driver's side bench.

we had an alde fuse issue with our 2015 cs-s.  ended up being a grounding issue.  i ran a separate ground wire back to the battery for the alde and the problem was solved.  check with nu-camp.
