400 fold down sink not draining well

On my first use of my camper,  the  bathroom sink was not draining well.  The water pump was on and I did hear it kick on briefly when I turned the sink on.  When I folded the sink up a bit,  it seemed to drain better.  The kitchen  sink and shower drained fine.  Any thoughts or something I need to do?

Ours doesn't drain quickly either. And I tilt it up a bit to get it to drain completely. Otherwise, we love the sink and the fact it folds out of the way.

@Haloo, does water sit in yours for 10-15 minutes and not move?

Here’s a hint from the Cirrus Truck Camper FB Page on how one owner deals with the fold down sink:

“Tip the sink back and forth several times to allow as much to drain as possible, then swipe the bowl with an absorbent cloth like xxxxx suggested. I stuck a command hook right next to the sink so it is handy. We've not had water on the floor since, except after a shower. For that we try to park so that gravity helps aim all the water towards the drain in the floor, the wipe out excess“

@Verna so is this considered normal? I am new to campers so it seems strange to me that it is normal for a sink to just not drain without extra work being done to make it do so.

@gooddogs74, this is pretty much what we do. The drain hole is small, which doesn't help.  But even though it doesn't work like a sink at home, we are okay with it.

Could it be improperly vented? Even with a small drain hole, if vented correctly it should drain.  What does nucamp have to say about this...?

My 400 folding sink does the same slow drain act. Only for 30-60 seconds with only a small amount of water. The last bit is a lot slower than a sink 1/3 full. Also a slight lift, drains faster. I do wipe the sink down after ever use.

I finally got around to fixing the bathroom sink In our 400 now it drains.
That looks great.  I wish it was a factory option. The slow draining bathroom sink is one of my biggest complaints about our 400.

Has anyone figured out why the fold down sink drains slowly?

The drain is flexible on the sink, too flexible and it prevents water from exiting quickly. I did share this discussion with nüCamp and they were impressed with the simplicity of the replacement sink.

That is a toad brush that you wipe your shoes on outside. Which is currently being stored in the bathroom

Just updating here regarding my sink.  Towed my trailer the 3+ hours to the dealer for warranty work.  The sink drains now.  I was told various things depending on who I spoke with at the dealer.  The man who fixed the sink apparently had to disassemble everything.  He said the pipe and drain hole were small.  He said it went UP instead of down in one place.  I also heard from a service advisor that there was debris in the pipe from the manufacturing process.  My paperwork noted a kink.  So not really sure if some or all of these things were the problem, but it does drain now.  It is not super fast, but it drains without lifting it up and down a million times.  Maybe my husband will stop brushing his teeth in the kitchen now.  @Tabfortwo that looks really nice!

Tabfortwo, any pics of the wall and what you used to mount the sink on.  Is it plywood?

I removed the old sink cut the 1.5 vent pipe to insert my drain line. Removed the 3/4 couragated hose and patched the hole. Cut a piece of plywood to fit the opening. installed a matching piece of plastic panel then in stalled sink to the wood.

Thank you.  The slow drain on the factory sink is very annoying so I'm considering doing your upgrade.

that is a great find,   thinking the spigot on the left side might be nicer,  but a more functional sink is a win

or do the water lines come into the sink on the right side.

They sell the sink with the faucet on either right or left application. The water lines are long enough to reach either side.

The factory is installing a rectangular style fold down sink on the new 400's and this should correct the drainage problem.

If it's the same 3/4 couragated pipe I don't that being any better. I reconfigured mine in many different ways and materials nothing made it better. Having to lift up and down on the sink to make it drain is not the answer.

@Michigan_Mike assuming the 2020 sinks work better, would they easily swap into previous year 400's or is that unknown?
