Workin out great other than the water jugs that fit nicely from Walmart are a little thin so about ever 4-5 months they'd spring a leak - hit a good bump and it'd crack the bottom - no big deal as they were in the shower. But, I seemed to have solved that by getting some aqua-blue, semi-transparent duck tape and reinforcing the bottom third - Haven't sprung a leak sunce.

Thanks, I even had it bookmarked!
This is an idea I will probably try out. Hard to have too much water when boondocking....especially with our 5 gallon freshwater tanks.2021 T@b 320 Boondock "Mattie Ross" | 2021 T@b Nights: 239 | Total nights in a T@b 455 | 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland | T@b owner since 2014

Jenn, I had two 2.5 gallon jugs in a milk crate on the bathroom floor. It worked well, especially before I was able to dewinterize. I put it outside overnight. But, both sprang a leak on the bottom and I got rid of them. I'll try a 5 gallon water jug with a pump this winter before dewinterizing.Verna, Columbus, IN

The thing I like about the jugs I'm using is three fit on the shelf and you don't have to move them. They're taking up what would otherwise be wasted space.
I've gotten pretty good at using water efficiently that I've managed to get rid of the other 3 gallons I carried in the TV as backup. -

I have a 5 gallon Gerry can and a pump I will also use, but can you really have too much water? I have the 5 gallon freshwater tank so it goes fast. I usually keep water in the bathroom (1 gallon containers) for flushing. I thought that two of the 2.5 gallon jugs might be good for drinking and cooking.

Nope, you can't have too much water. I was in an area with no facilities and I had a feeling I was on my last drops of water in the tank (woman's intuition?), so I didn't take a shower. I washed up at the sink, ending up using mostly two bottles of drinking water. While I mostly use two 4-gallon Reliance water jugs to refill my fresh water tank, I do carry a total of four. I do have two 6-gallon jugs that I have never used, nor taken with me. 48 lbs of water is a bit much for me to lift and carry. 32 lbs for the 4-gallon jugs are easier to manage.
@PXLated maybe I should use the tape idea on those inexpensive 2 1/2 gallon jugs. They lasted about 6 weeks before they started leaking. I gave them away (I hate to throw away stuff that could be useable) to someone who needed them just for filling up the fresh water tank. The person was fully aware that they had a leak. It was a great way to carry cooking and hand washing water while I was winterized.Verna, Columbus, IN

@jkjenn, have you considered using a camping water purifier, if you're around streams/lakes?'17 Outback S - TV 2016 Chevy Colorado in "Colorful Colorado"

That sounds way too much like camping :-)

I could just go bath in the lake! I am guessing that could be rather chilly, though.Mr_Mrs_Gnome said:@jkjenn, have you considered using a camping water purifier, if you're around streams/lakes?

Jenn, you need to find a thermal fed river like up in Yellowstone. Instant hot tub!Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio

I have never been but know of three natural hot tubs...Far north end of Death Valley...West of Yuma...East of Big Pine, CA - Be aware though, they've all been taken over by naked old hippies.

I use these: http://www.cascadedesigns.com/msr/water/storage/dromedary-bags/product
MSR Dromedary. You have to be careful with the plastic cap where the smaller cap screws onto the larger plastic cap. If you drop the larger cap on the neck it will nick the top and the smaller cap will leak. I carry extra caps now. Only dropped twice in the past five years.
They hold up very well. I used to run rivers and they can handle a lot of abuse. Now they get banged about while offroading (without the T@b in tow).Andrew P.
