Winterizing is prudent, but you can winter camp to.  18 this morning when I got up, but it is great to be out all year, even in the Mid-Atlantic.

States the T@Bpole has camped, so far ;)

I do camp in winter - it's just a more pleasant winter than you and I don't have to winterize :-)

+1 ;). Well, I have to winterize while I'm here, but then I can use everything once I get to AZ!

Verna - That's what I did the first year. Dewinterized in far south Kansas. Now I hightail it earlier :-)

I have to stay for the Great Nephews' Christmas.  I have to spend  more time with them before they grow to those awkward teenage ages when they will no longer run and hug Aunt Verna when she comes through the door!

It bypasses the fresh water tank. Enjoy DeGray. Pretty area.

sabel, Turn on the Alde, you can still get in through the zippered door.  Your Shepard doesn't seem to mind, teach him how to stoke the fire pit! My youngest daughter lives in Laramie, so I know what you mean! ;)

Nathan, I used to snow camp a lot [Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Washington, Oregon & Montana], but I was a whole lot younger then. Most of that was tent camping. Now....You can hear the bones creak & crack for miles! Don't want to disturb the local wildlife! =)

pfcardwell - As mentioned, it bypasses the freshwater tank but the water lines will be full so if I were you, I'd blow them out and winterize the traps/etc before heading back into freezing temps.

Yes, the city water will bypass the fresh water tank.

I am trying to encourage the folks that can't just up and move south, that yes, you can camp in the cold in the winter.  I camp at least once a month year round, no reason for the cold to stop you.

Nathan, I agree, you can still camp in the winter! [Just no more in a tent on the ground with hot river rocks for heat!] Fire up the Alde, put on some hot chocolate, slowly pour the peppermint schnapps in, start a fire & go for it!

One thing though Nathan - If you don't have shore power and the Alde runs constantly, you better have a good, fully-charged battery. The Alde is very efficient but still eats juice. Have hit low to mid 30s here in the higher elevations lately and awoke to a 12.0 reading at sunrise.

I live in the New England and all the campgrounds are closed.  Other then camping in the national forests, do you have any suggestions on where to camp?

If anyone's interested.....our first taste of winter goodness might be coming late this weekend. :)

This is my crazy time of year for work, but I might look at how I can make this work, for me.

    ok jenn, please translate...

The picture seems to suggest that that little green-gray spot in western NY is going to get 33 inches... That would be centered over my driveway.

Please say it ain't so. I still have to take down the screens!

Hey, if you all get that much snow, send some of that moisture down here to the South. Dry as a bone and getting worse by the day.

I'll bring my shovel if you let me driveway camp, @ChanW

Yeah, it's just one weather model and it's likely to change, but the meteorologist I follow has been predicting a significant storm with lake effect enhancement for a few days, now. If the storm pans out as this model shows, you will see periods of snow where it is snowing 2-3"/hour.

What's 33" to a good western NYer, like you, Chan?

What could go wrong? Relatives come early and argue about politics for a couple of extra days? :anguished:

Oh gawd, what an awful thought!
That's certainly an inspiration to get out the cross country skis... To escape the relatives

Fish and relatives should be around no more than 3 days.

In two years full-timing it and using the Alde alot, I've had to add glycol three times is all.

No, pfcardwell, it shouldn't go down.
    edit:
It shouldn't 'consume' glycol, but there might be some air that needs to bleed out when it first comes from the factory.

ChanW - Mine went down in the beginning then seemed to stabilize.

Ahhh! I wonder if it was bleeding excess air out from the initial install of the glycol.
