I set up my newly purchased Therma-Rest Add-a-Room on Sunday, as a test run for a Florida road trip with my sister next month where we'll need extra space. Three days at Fort Pickens, three days in Key West, with KOAs in between, with her getting a cabin for one-night stays. I had a four-page illustrated guide (thank you Ella Brown). It took a lot of head-scratching and I was drenched with sweat when I was done. It is humid down here. I'm ready to accept my Academy Award, Nobel Peace Prize, or whatever the committee thinks is appropriate to mark this achievement. Thank you.

I think there's a merit badge from Tab University, but only if you sweated enough to go through your hat band.
Learning how to take it down in a hurry, before that big thunderhead arrives, with hoardes of hungry mosquitoes nipping at your neck, without losing more than a pint of blood... That covers the next merit badge.
HINT - you can practice that when you get to Assateague NP.

Oh yes! That sounds like tons of fun! I did notice blood on jeans when I was breaking camp and saw that I scratched my arm. Skeeter bit for sure. I used to say no DEET for me. Now I'm all like: bring it on! Double DEET for me!

Katt, since you are sort of in buying mode, check out Thermocell mosquito repellers. (https://www.amazon.com/ThermaCELL-MR-GJ-Mosquito-Repellent-Appliance/dp/B0031ESIVK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490813775&sr=8-1&keywords=thermacell). I have not tried them but some here have them and swear by them. Once I run out of deet coils and such I'm going to try one of these. I swear I have "DINE HERE" written on my forehead in mosquito!

Me too! Mosquito fine dining over here. I came within minutes of buying a Thermocell but then thought about all the replacement stuff one has to buy, the pads and fuel cylinders, and it made me wary. I need to reconsider.

My sister and her bf were talking about Thermacells one camping trip as we were using our electrified bug tennis racket (and missing bugs) ....and when a Thermacell arrived that Monday, I thought she did it!! I called her and asked her if she or her bf sent it. She was ready to called her bf cuz she didn't. In a weirdo psychic moment, my DAD sent both her and I different colored ones!

Just FYI, it works best if you put it on the ground beside your chair and there's no wind gusts. Clipping it on your belt while you walk doesn't do anything, but notify all bugs that you are in the area! LOL. Oh, and it's not meant to be snuggled with in an enclosed space. In a tent with screens, you're A-ok. Just don't melt the floor by accidentally turning it face down.

I really like my Thermocell. I've use it a couple of time and it does seem to hold those critter at bay! The pads and fuel cylinders have been easy to use.
