Our recent trip to Caverns State Park in Marianna, Florida. I recently changed out tow vehicles to a 2014 Nissan Frontier, which I like, but I'm not sure (despite higher towing capacity) that it outperforms my old 4Runner that I traded in for it.
Beautiful park. It has many hiking trails (and one 3 mile loop trail I used for running) that border sinkholes and cypress swamps. Our first morning out on a trail, I had to grab my wife (city girl) to keep her from walking into this creature who was stretched across the trail. I routinely scan in front of me and certain patterns set off immediate alarms - this alarm was a moccasin who was still too cold to cause much trouble. Throwing sticks didn't get much movement, so we waited until it decided to cross on it's time.
The weather was good, and we did do the caverns tour our last day there. They're not Carlsbad Caverns, but it was interesting to see all that limestone that is Florida's foundation. You have to stoop at many points in the walk, but I never once bumped my head.
From the tour, we hiked to the Tunnel Cave. There is no tour here, and you go through at your own risk. Early Native Americans used this as a camping spot during travels. It is not much higher than 4 ft. and is about 80 ft. long (guesstimate). It is dark inside and you really can't see anything except the exit ahead. I did bump my head this time.
Exit.
Wife looking out on the water during one of our hikes.
The 400 did well. I found a few glitches with it; one being the way they connected the HDMI to the tv. We like to watch old classic horror movies at night and when I extended the tv away from the wall, it would not work. Looking closely, I saw that the HDMI input had been stressed from the cable being stretched too tight. They really should have put elbow connectors there. As others have noticed, the gray water sure fills up quickly if you have the luxury of a sewer hookup and are not watching how much water is going down the drains.
The Clam screen house again proved itself to be one of the best investments I have made. We did the majority of our cooking in it with a Camp Chef two burner oven and that worked out nicely.

Wonderful photos and trip story (except for the creepy crawlie-I truly dislike being surprised by a snake, in other words, seeing one anywhere but in a zoo or pet store). Thanks!
