Flying Biting Bug Spray?

Spring Finally Here,

So what is your favorite Flying Biting Bug Spray?

About 30-years ago switched from mountain/forest camping & hiking to Puget Sound boating. With near steady wind and little to prey on the biting flies and mosquitoes were few and far between.

Now am back in the woods T@Bing and soon the bugs will wake up . . . and if I'm in a crowd they see me as the tasty buffet.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now recognizes several mosquito-repelling ingredients as effective weapons in the war against insect-borne diseases. In addition to DEET, there are four other chemicals – oil of lemon eucalyptus, picaridin, IR3535, and 2-undecanone – recommended for use on both skin and clothing.

Current plan is to use REPEL or a similar non-DEET for general use but have a can of quality high DEET % on hand, Coleman 40% DEET 'Sportsman', for those extra dense bug areas.

Sound like a plan . . . of going down the wrong brands/type path ? ?

You might consider Thermacell technology, we find it to be quite effective.

I love Thermacell. I have one of the originals.

Caveats - they don't work when there is a significant wind. They work best on the ground between every other chair when sitting in a circle around a campfire. New thermacell products are coming out all the time. Some have lights and some are more powerful. Be careful not to use them in enclosed spaces. It does emit a type of pyrethroid, so people sensitive to those need to be careful, as the chemical can be inhaled.

Thermacell was the only thing that worked against the nasty mosquitos at Great Sand Dunes. I have never been so attacked in my life!

Which version do people like? The one that uses fuel or the battery operated? I am a mosquito magnet so I would love to get something like this.

I have two of the butane powered ones and they are wonderful. The battery operated ones are new andI have not tried them.

Also, parked it off road in some areas where we flew that required four wheel drive to get out of.  No problem for the T@B with the good clearance.
OK, what does that mean ?

flew a flag, really had to use 4x4, some Ozarks regulation ?????
