Not a battery expert here. I will be getting a new TAB320 next month. I am having the dealer replace the stock 12 volt battery with two Interstate GC2 batteries (6 volt). As to the codes - It looks like GC stands for golf cart (deep cycle wet cell batteries) and the number has something to do with the battery voltage. GC8…
Anyone have a 2018 Tab 400 with the dual 6 volt setup? Curious what the amp hour rating is because the dealer said they were like 106amp. NuCamp list the setup at 224. Pretty sure you don't add the amp hours when connecting in series....you only add the volts. I haven't had a chance to actually check the physical batteries…
@4ncar - You can install 12v batteries in parallel for the TaB for additive amphrs, but two 6 volts must be installed in series to get a 12v output. Four 6v batteries can be used by connecting in series and parallel. https://tab-rv.vanillacommunity.com/discussion/12148/ganging-6-volt-batteries
@Sharon_is_SAM, @4ncar, @lightningdon In our recent discussion, you all provided a pic or diagram of your connection of 2 6-Volts. Sharon's showed plus-to-plus and called it a Series, 4ncar and Don showed plus to minus, which I take it is parallel. Which is is the way to do it to replace a std 12-volt?
I also switched the factory battery to two 6 volt golf cart batteries. When not plugged in I use solar to run the T@B and a 12 volt Dometic cooler in the Jeep.
Considering a 2021 trailer... should we go with the stock 12 volt, two 12 volts in parallel, or 2 6 volts in series? Thoughts? Pros and cons? Thanks very much.
