I need to arrange for a brake controller to be installed on my 2013 Highlander Plus in anticipation of my T@B's arrival. Does anyone have experience with a Tekonsha P3 on a Highlander? Given that I plan to keep the Highlander as my tow vehicle at least 7 more years, is there any technical reason to use the Prodigy RF…
Thanks Mike. If we can get a good trade for our Lexus GX we will get an RX ( Kris wants to downsize) IF the dealership will put a fully functioning 7 pin on her. We will use the Prodigy RF as I am sure Lexus will not want to cut wires at the dash. Thanks again
Got the hitch today at Toyota, next week I am going to a truck/trailer place that I have used in the past to get the wiring harness (took so long that we missed our appt. for today). I ordered the Prodigy RF brake controller on Amazon. It was a great price! Thanks all!
@GatorEgg, for those that use the Tekonsha Prodigy RF controller, it is recommended to avoid using the manual “boost” function for trailers the weight of our TaBs. Aside from properly balancing the TaB cargo to gain adequate tongue weight, the first thing I would suggest is to take your foot off the gas and slow down.
Thanks webers3. We just decided to purchase the Tab 320S Boondock. This is our first purchase out of state. The dealer is located in PA, about 5.5-6 hours away. The Jeep has the hitch and the dealer said they could install the Curt Echo or Prodigy RF quickly. Anything I should so ahead of time?
You already made the investment into the wired version, but if it's returnable, you may want to look into the Prodigy RF. I went that route because I did not have a suitable location to mount a wired unit in my Volvo. The unit works very well, and its controller is as easy to reach and use as a traditional mounted wired…
Brakes are required by law in most if not all states, also makes sense just for safetys sake. There is a controller out there (Prodigy RF) that is wireless and portable. After the receiver is installed on the trailer, the transmitter plugs into the cig lighter in the TV and away you go. Easy to move from TV to TV. Sway…
You have two choices in brake controllers: hardwired, and wireless. Hard wiring either requires some comfort with DIY or a professional installer; the controller itself is usually a little less expensive, and is permanently installed in your vehicle. Wireless is more plug and play. I went with the Tekonsha Prodigy RF…
While I am waiting on the delivery of my new Ultimate Toys camper, I have been procuring all of the fun bits and pieces to support my new adventure. One item remains… which brake controller do you recommend? I do not want to hardwire into my tv (Volvo xc-40). What have your experiences been with these two? Pros and cons.…
Had a similar issue...not drastic but wanted it reduced or corrected . Upgraded shocks to Bilsteins HD and replaced rear coils with Moog HD. Helped significantly. Rarely tow above 60 and slower when encountering "waves". Much more comfortable. Highly recommend Takonsha Prodigy RF controller. Rock solid, transferable to any…
