Spouse and daughter at South Beach State Park near Newport, Oregon. It was a bit foggy and cool at the Oregon coast. Highs in the low 60s and overnight lows in the high 50s. Daughter was cozy in her tent, however.

“I pray to the birds. I pray to the birds because I believe they will carry the messages of my heart upward. I pray to them because I believe in their existence, the way their songs begin and end each day—the invocations and benedictions of Earth. I pray to the birds because they remind me of what I love rather than what I fear. And at the end of my prayers, they teach me how to listen.”~Terry Tempest Williams, Refuge: An Unnatural History of Family and Place

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming WOW! What A RIDE!!” Dr. Hunter S. Thompson
OMG @Rodent77! I have almost the identical set up! Will post a pic from my next adventure later this month. Right down to the Eureka tent. What a nice addition.
I had planned a two month trip in the West, PNW, and Upper Plains for this summer, but it looks like it is coming to an early end. My friend who is traveling with me needs to go home to attend to a relative who underwent open heart surgery, plus a brother who needed his stents cleaned out. That’s tough having two heart attacks in the family in less than a week.
Also, all of these forest fires are stopping us from going north of the middle plains states. Frustrating, but Arches National Park is still as gorgeous as the first time I saw it in 2003, the Federal two lane highways are providing a gorgeous pathway through our country.
Here’s photos of the best BLM campsite in Southern Colorado, complete with bobcat footprints, cow hoof foot prints, and a hoof from what looks like a goat….with all the brass from a .22, my guess is someone shot it and had it for dinner (not us!).
And yes, the haze is from the forest fires.

White Ledge Campground in NH. Dry camping with minimal comforts, but it’s a beautiful spot. Some road noise. Still early. Hopefully it’ll quiet down come nightfall. Looking forward to hiking in the morning.

Tillamook, Oregon. August 22 -- my first Harvest Host camp, en route to the southern Oregon coast. Enjoyed our overnight stay and had some nice conversations with other travelers.

First trip! Ordered in February, picked up last Thursday, headed straight to shakeout cruise near dealer at Buesher State Park in Texas.
Oscar is clearly happy with it, and so are his people.
Worth the wait. We also had all the mods and add-ons ready to go, thanks to this forum. The great thing about the long lead time and late delivery is that we had a lot of time to read, study, learn, and prepare. Aeroflo vent cover, Isabella canopy, Level Pro, 2nd propane tank installed this trip. Soft Start and Victron BMV-712 procured some time ago, to be installed before our first boondock trip, as well as the Fantastic Fan upgrade kit. Thanks to all of you for the education.
Now there is one peculiar thing... I designed and prefabbed some slick anti varmint covers for those long oval holes in the frame that I keep reading about (and first learned about on Mandy Lea's YouTube) and was surprised to find that our frame doesn't have those openings. We must have one of the very last 2021 400s produced... due to supply chain overlaps and timing, did we get a 2022 frame? When someone gets one of the early 2022 400s, let us know if those oval openings are indeed gone with the new model year. That would solve the mystery.
Anyway, we've felt like family since joining this forum when we first ordered our T@B in February. Now we have finally gotten it, and we get to sit at the big kids' table!
Mahalo for adding to our anticipatory dreams @Sharon_is_SAM as we await our CSS
few questions: -Is that a bigger frig you switched out in kitchen? -What are the biggest use advantages of your side tent and how long does it typically take you to set it up? -You have two solar panels. Is this to increase chance of finding the sun or do you usually end up needing that much charge for boondocking?

@renesadae The ARB 59 qt frig/freezer and altered counter top/frig slide was a customization allowed back in 2017. The tent is <10 min to setup with 2 people. It gives us a place to store misc items, hang out when rainy, and leave our bed set up. It has been a big attraction here out west. By increasing the total solar wattage it will hasten your charging. We typically use less than 20 amp hrs a day, so in good sun it takes several hours with a PWM charge controller and our AGM battery.
@SLJ -- which canopy/umbrella is that and do you recommend it? I'm generally a solo camper and the bigger canopies look difficult for a single person to manage easily. Thanks.
