Last trip of the year. Dispersed camping in northern, Lower Michigan. Perfect fall camping! Heat, hot shower, solar....everything worked perfectly! Love my little camper!
Englishman River Falls Provincial Park, Beautiful BC!You do have basically the same set up! So cool....

We found a nice colorful site in the newer Laurel Ridge loop at Holliday Lake State Park in central Virginia's Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest, less than 2 hours from home.. 1. Site LR4..
I really appreciated how level and roomy these sites are on the newer loop, and the private showers in the newer bath house as well. I don't think there is a single site in the older Redbud loop that is not unlevel on both axes, but they are all unique. We originally passed over this last remaining one in the loop, because it is next to a group camping site, but after we discovered it was vacant, we were able to switch online from one of the old unlevel sites. 2. First morning breakfast..
Here's a park map showing our hikes & numbered photo locations..
First hike was along the Lakeshore trail at the edge of the lake on a gorgeous fall day, and next day was from the boat launch dock via our inflatable kayak across the lake to visit the dam area. 3. My favorite overlook in the woods..
4. I love those sunlit Hickory trees..
5. A snack at the dam..
6. For the following shot, I was standing on the middle of the dam and looking in the distance below the dam..
7. And from a little farther past the dam, looking back towards the park facilities on the opposite shore..
8. Yes, it was a very relaxing trip, and we didn't want to leave..
But we were really happy to have caught most of the colors at their peak. It rained one night, but daytime weather was gorgeous. Upper 40's at night, upper 60's daytime.
PS: This park doesn't have any wifi or cell service to speak of, but, because of our slightly higher elevation on the upper loop, I was able to get a couple bars of cell service only by using a signal booster with a directional antenna mounted 20 ft up on a pole & pointed SE (by trial & error). It was still a somewhat sporadic connection.

@BrianZ ... In a different life, my wife and I ran a 50K in that park several times predating our T@B ownership. Stayed in the group cabins. Great trails! Didn't even think of it as a place to camp. Thanks for the heads-up and fantastic pictures that bring back memories.

I don't recall any group cabins at Holliday Lake, @AnOldUR, but group lodges are available at the following VA state parks: Bear Creek Lake, Claytor Lake, Douthat, Fairy Stone, Hungry Mother, James River, Kiptopeke, Lake Anna, Natural Tunnel, Occoneechee, Shenandoah River, Twin Lakes and Westmoreland. Could it have been one of these? I recall seeing a large group lodge at Douthat, one of our favorites & one of the original VA state parks, with a nice lake & dam.
Yes, I do recall you saying that before, @Sharon_is_SAM! We can thank FDR and his Civilian Conservation Corps program during the great depression of the 1930's.. They developed what became the first six of Virginia's state parks, in addition to various national parks, including Virginia's Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive & the Blue Ridge Parkway. Before the CCC, Virginia had no state parks (not that I was around back then ), and now there are 23 that offer camping (plus others). We've been to all of them in the last 4 years since we got our T@B.
PS: The CCC also helped develop Pocahontas State Park here in Chesterfield County, our closest state park where we first took our T@B for its maiden overnight, just 25 minutes from home. Pocahontas Park is also home to the CCC museum.

I don't recall any group cabins at Holliday Lake, @AnOldUR ....
hmmm, it looks like the same park, but age and time may have me confused. Did some Googling. Both locations are Appomattox, VA, but the spelling is different. Strange that the campground you stayed at is "Holliday Lake", but the lake is "Holiday Lake". We stayed in the bunkhouses at the Holiday Lake 4H Camp. Looks to be a different location on the same lake.
Check out the results from 20 years ago (2002). That 5th place was the best I did there. Not sure I could walk that far anymore. Like I said, another life, but now that I know I can take my T@B there, we will return for the memories. Thanks again!

Glad you solved the mystery @AnOldUR ! We passed signs for the 4H Center on our way & could see some of the 4H facilities across the lake from the state park side and from our kayak when we paddled past the 4H peninsula. It's located at the end of the road at bottom left on my map. I'm impressed that you could run a 50K & the top times are very impressive, including yours! And you've done it 5 times - wow! And now I know what the "UR" means, and the "U" is well-deserved. I've never been a runner, but the longest organized hike we've ever done was a 20K Volksmarch event in the Alps when I was stationed in Augsburg, Germany in the mid-80's. I never noticed that spelling discrepancy between park & lake names. I wonder if the state park did that to avoid confusion with the 4H facilities.

More Autumn camping in Arizona. This is at Picacho Peak State Park. We were there October 24 to 27. No water, but electricity at the sites. Nice three days. We had wind, rain, heat, and cold (for us). Typical of Arizona. Due to the wind, no awnings. Trip number 3 for our T@b.
Lupine FS Campground by Bass Lake, Yosemite. Lots of deer, ground squirrels, owls, turkeys, and a giant size cat that faked us out as a cougar at first, but no bears...phfew!

We spent 10 days over Halloween @ Disney's Fort Wilderness. While our scenery might not have been as breathtaking as a lot of these posts, we enjoyed our home away from home and did have some wildlife visiting!
Enjoying all viewing all you out in pre-winter camp sites. Here is where our T@B is parked after a record early 8" snowfall on Veteran's day. Also a photo of the moon over our town of Palmer, AK, both taken today at around 4:00pm, temperature 10 degrees F!

We spent a weekend in December at Picacho State Park, Arizona again. Our Christmas T@b
Our dishwashing station. I put a counter height folding table near the outdoor shower faucet and now have a paper towel roll on the T@b's bumper. Also, it is a great place to hang the trash bag. Sure beats the old tent camping days of heating up the water on the stove and bending over a picnic bench to wash dishes
Here in Elkford, British Columbia it is not really what is considered “camping” weather but non the less here is our 400 pitted in for the winter. -28 C today so we are definitely jealous of those of you that are lucky enough to be in a warn area…….but it is a great day for backcountry skiing 😀
Wishing you all a wonderful 2022

Come on out to Utah. We’ve got a couple of steep “hills” for you here, too! Lol. A little envious of your Southern weather as our 400 is still snowed-in next to our house. Enjoy!
