Leaking around base of Alde 3020
madtrout
Member Posts: 63
This morning I noticed a dripping from under my TAB400 where the bolts that hold the rear stabilizer jacks are attached. I opened up the panels under the bed and found water around the base of the Alde 3020. Not glycol, just water. No obvious leaks at the connections, just from the base. Yet another headache with our TAB. Any suggestions? I have to wait til Monday to contact NuCAmp. Thanks, Mark

Yoy probably just need to determine where the dripping is from and hand tighten a connection.

Out of curiosity, was your T@b an order or did you purchase off of a dealer lot?

@madtrout, you had a previous leak at the mixing valve. Can you hook up to city water and see if there are any leaks from the Alde hot and cold lines, from the Nautilus or plumbing lines? There have been rare instances of the Alde water tank failing, so I would check the other sources first.Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio

The Alde sits on a very shallow drip pan. I believe this is to catch any condensation (not an actual water leak). There is a hole in the drip pan just forward the large exhaust hose opening. If the water is coming from this hole, then it could be caused by excessive condensation or an actual leak in the water tank. The tank itself is not user-serviceable. The aluminum cover is not designed to be removed and replaced. If it looks like a leak, then you'll need to contact nuCamp warranty.

Hi Sharon_is_SAM. Three days ago after out latest trip, I opened up the panels to check for leaks and found none. This morning I saw dripping from under the trailer at the back where the bolts holding the stabilizer jacks are attached. I'm drying out the area around the Alde with fans. I'll try to re-pressurize the system tomorrow, but the seepage seems to have come from the metal tray at the base of the Alde.2021 T@B400 Boondock

So, this occurred after it was sitting dry. Does your Alde water tank have water in it? Fingers crossed it is just from condensation.Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio

Well good news. I drained and refilled the TAB, and when I re-pressurized the system I found a leak at the union exiting the Alde leading to the Mixing valve. (Marked in yellow). It was loose enough to cause the problem. What a relief!

The FB pages have several reports about leaks...all including the "dripping from the stabilizer". If the Alde was leaking, or anything else in the Alde compartment, then this leak would be easy to spot and repeatable. Something else must be going on here. There were reports here that some "leaking at the stabilizers" occurred in conjunction with the "black tank flush".There are other posts on the "black tank flush fitting" leaking in various ways...but I don't think all these "leaks from the stabilizer" have been tied into the "black tank flush". The fitting may be the "missing link".

Camping right now, first time on generator power. After running the AC for 3 hours we were going to shower so we turned on Alde to heat water. Took showers and did dishes, went to check things outside and noticed water dripping from left side (driver side) back stabilizer (as mentioned above). Opened the bed compartment to check Alde and there was quite a bit of condensation in the compartment.Turned Alde off since we are at campground and can use their showers. Tomorrow is our last day before returning home so the plan is not to use any hot water until we go home. Not sure how “pressurize” the system as stated above to see if I can fix this (we have other trips planned).Any ideas what could be wrong? (Have used Alde about 10 times) since getting out ‘21 Tab 400 BD in March and this is the first time it has leaked this is also the first time we used the generator. I don’t think the generator is an issue but it’s the only different factor that I can think of.AJ & K

@Kamate - pressurize your plumbing lines by hooking up to city water. The water supply is constant and it may be easier to locate a leak.Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio

@Sharin_is_SAM - thank you for clarifying. I’ll try that when we get home and check the connections.AJ & K

We got our 2021 tab 400 last July and initially had multiple leaks from the connectors to the nautilus system. The black tank flush connector was barely even threaded on and flooded the compartment, while others just dripped. I eventually tracked all these down. Our second use of the trailer was last week and after having no leaks with the system pressurized for 1 week prior to going, I was dismayed to find what appears to be the Alde unit leaking after our first night. Water does not appear to be coming from any of the shark bite connectors, but comes from under and around the metal pan it sits in. I stopped the leak by bypassing the water heater from the nautilus and draining the heater water with the flip valves. There is no glycol in the leaking. Nucamp says it is extremely rare for the Alde tank to leak, short of it freezing full (it was winterized and we didn’t freeze this year). The only Alde service center within 2-3 hours is booking new appointments for January 2022 (!). So I’m waiting to hear from nucamp what to do next. Any ideas on diagnosing further? (Hoping the whole Alde unit doesn’t need to be replaced) Thx

@Bayliss, thx for the links. Gave me some ideas to look at tomorrow. Ideally I can get a look inside of the unit as someone seemed to have been able to do.
