So sorry to receive this sad news late this evening, but am glad Larry was able to feel the presence of his beloved dog Booger, who we all know he loved dearly. I wasn't as close to Larry as some folks were lucky enough to be, but we met and were friends via the forum and from our first meeting at Tearstock. He was a kindered and gentle soul, a gentleman and someone you could meet on the street and immediately connect with and know you'd met a good, kind and loving individual.
I do treasure the moments, conversations and fleeting time spent with Larry and have been very saddened and felt helpless by his downward spiral and fight to survive after falling ill, going through treatments and enduring such pain as the end approached. This is the unfortunate part of life, seeing a good friend fight the good fight and knowing that things are only going to get tougher.
My condolences go out to Larry's loved ones and family and to you Verna, as I know you have been a true friend, a considerate, compassionate and caring friend to Larry and am certain that you made a difference for Larry and he knew it full well too. I was touched at the recent Coyote Howls campground by the cardboard image of Larry and you taking the time to take photos of us and to keep his spirit alive.
This is what life is all about and we can all take note from these kind human gestures of love, comraderie, compassion and remembrance for our friends, family members and good people like Larry, while putting aside all the anger and vitriol that currently exists in America and around the world today. Heaven knows that the world needs more compassion, more goodwill, kindness and decency toward others and you hit the mark Verna!
We lost a good and kind soul today friends and may Larry Rest In Peace and may his spirit forever live on though our love of others, and via the love of the outdoors, for those furry friends and the friendships we have established via these trailers and the kindness extended to others.
Thanks sgain Verna and keep your chin up as our friend rides on eagles wings tonight, he is free from all physical pain and suffering and is smiling down from the heavens above!

My condolences, and God speed Larry, you'll be in our hearts and minds for all time! Verna, thanks for sharing the news, I know it's been hard for you, and please know our thoughts and prayers are with you and Larry's family and friends. Last but not least... Booger, keep an eye out for him for all of us!

Words can't describe the loss I feel because the world is now absent of a man I never met, but considered a friend immediately when I joined this forum - because of his knowledge and kindness. He is no longer in pain and his best friend was at his side when he passed. Is it selfish of me to have wanted more words of wisdom and kindness he gave so freely for just a little longer? My heart breaks, but I must remember as long as I have memories, Larry will always be with me. I have no doubt Larry is at peace, it accepting he is really gone is the hard part for me.

He was a great guy and I will miss him. I never read that story that he wrote about Booger. Thank you, SAM, for sharing. He loved Booger and I'm glad they had that last moment together.

One last update, from Larry’s brother, near the first anniversary of Larry’s passing. Larry had a hand in designing his own headstone, which is now in place on his gravesite.
Larry’s brother wanted me to share photos of the headstone. Bugger is on the front and Larry’s T@B and truck are on the rear, in addition to a poem that Larry wrote.

Larry loved that dog. I remember that he was able to attend a final outing with his Tab out west I think. So glad. Anybody remember where and when that event was?
Verna, thanks for posting this. Larry was a gentle soul and he is missed.
Larry, I have never met you but I can tell by the tributes and comments you are probably a heck of a friend. It is said that it is not the beginning nor the end, but the middle that counts. I think your middle must be outstanding. Sending well wishes and may your middle outlast their expiration date.
@SAM I had to pleasure of getting to know Larry a little better at a gathering in Durango Colorado. Unfortunately this would be his last T@B get together. He was not feeling well and complaining of throat pain and difficulty swallowing. He and Booger headed home early. The rest was not anything anyone could have imagined. The headstone is beautiful and reflects much of what Larry was all about. We miss him lots!

An amazing poem, an amazing man. What more can be said? When I saw this thread, I wasn't expecting the headstone pictures and poem. I like that place Somewhere. I 'spect it's a place where campers sit 'round the campfyre and tell tall tails (with several waggin' doggie tails happily playing). I know you're going to hate this, Larry, but you got some tears from me this morning. I shall deny them when we meet again. No pictures, it didn't happen! LUV

@Verna, Thanks so much for sharing those pictures. Larry & Liz are probably busy swappin' tall tales around a campfire as we speak. "Somewhere" sounds like a place they'll both enjoy 'till the rest of us can pull OUR chairs up around the campfire to join them! I think they're both in good company. Believe me when I tell you she'll keep him laughin'!

Well, I never met Larry or even knew about him until today, but I'm sitting here teary-eyed, wishing I had. He was so right! Every day is a gift and should be treated as such.
Larry was a kindered soul and I knew that when I met him, sat around and laughed and telling stories I'd made a friend for life. I'd seen him and booger at the various rallies and he left us too soon as he was a gentle, kind man. Life is too short and Larrys passing is a good lesson to not let these precious moments pass by, nor to take them for granted as friends and family members are like good, they are precious and few and now is the time to renew those connections, show kindness, love and affection as tomorrow may not come, nor allow that opportunity.
What a beautiful, from the heart poem and I wouldn't expect anything less than it from our friend Larry, who continues to live on in our hearts and souls and who has taught us all a great lesson about life through his example and tender heart. God bless and keep you my friend!

@GailandJohn, I never had the pleasure to meet Larry (RZRBUG) either, but got to know him through his posts. A meander through his discussions and comments reminds me of his helpful and humorous contributions and reveal why he is still so missed. I think Verna mentioned he wrote country western songs, too!

Thanks for this update @Verna. I was new to the family Larry’s last year but I learned so much from his shared knowledge and wisdom. I am also forever grateful for him sharing his Redneck Front Porch. I’ve got an updated version in the works and it’s my way of honoring him. He touched many lives!

Sounds like a great guy! I'll have to check out some of his posts, though it will make me sad...
@GailandJohn, Larry was always so helpful to everyone. Please do a search on RZRBUG and read his posts. You will find many posts from a wise man who tried to help all he met. You will end up smiling.
Larry’s brother was lamenting about how much more Larry wanted to do in his life, and I commented that Larry had accomplished a lot in his life. From those he taught English, to those he worked with at the local Electric Co-Op, to those who heard his band, heard the songs he wrote, Larry touched a lot of lives.
When I visited Larry and his family, I was amazed at the number of people who just stopped by his house to say Hi to him and wish him well. I don’t think there was a person in the community he lived in who didn’t know him.
So, don’t be sad, be glad that our lives were touched by him.

Such strength it took Larry to post this initialy. I have been redisant in making post after seeing this revived, as I was so moved, and that it nailed me between the eyes as to the reality of our mortality. That in a moment the life that we (i) May take for granted is taken away, and there’s is nothing we can do but to fight for what remains.
larry I never knew you, but you have shared with me, in your strength, a very important lesson. RIP.
What a fitting headstone for Larry. I was with him at his last outing in Durango. I was fortunate to spend some time with Larry while he talked about how he put his US map decal on his tab and how nervous he was doing it. I learned that he used to be a singer in a band. Who knew? I had gotten up really early because I knew I had a long drive back to Phoenix. I was using a flashlight to put my stabilizers up and here pulls up Larry to give me a hug goodbye with Booger smiling in the truck window. He was a good soul and I miss him. This is a picture from that outing. Larry has a hat on is standing on the far right.
@cbarnhill Thanks for sharing the photo. Brings back wonderful memories!
