The new trailers with the lithium battery installs will be pretty confusing until owners get the real hang of what a lithium setup can do, and what it cannot. Tell us more about what battery setup you have, and if it has the inverter, etc.
Off topic, but hoping someone here has an answer. I have a Ryobi riding mower that has four 12V lead acid batteries. The batteries are shot and I'm thinking of switching to LiFePO4's like I did in our T@B. The T@B's WFCO will not fully charge the lithium, but doesn't cause any harm. Does anyone know if this is universal to…
I agree that Lithium batteries can be charged twice as fast as AGM, but they don't have twice the usable power. That was the message in the original post. You can safely discharge AGMs by 80% without compromising them.If you discharge a Lithium battery of equivalent Ah rating to zero, you only get 25% more power. If you're…
I thought we would share our lithium battery install with the forum. We removed our lead acid battery to make room for a second propane tank in the plastic tub. We then installed a 100 amp Canbat lithium battery in the electrical bin. We also added a lithium charger and a solar port outlet for our 200 watt portable Go…
The cover isn't required for a lithium battery. It's there to collect the potential hydrogen gas outgassing of the AGM battery during charging, which isn't an issue with lithium. Without the cover you have more flexibility on how to support/restrain the Li batteries.
Hi @otr_320 Thank you for the explaination. It's helpful to better understand what's going on. So the charger never starts because the voltage (and resistance)) of the lithium battery does not drop enough below the voltage of the charger to allow current to flow. Correct? Like the OP, when the lithium battery voltage…
My understanding is Lithium can be safely discharged at cold temps, but cannot take a charge below 32°F. One article (different battery manufacturer, but same battery type): https://relionbattery.com/blog/lithium-battery-cold-weather
Info is spread across several sources. The charge controller/converter, charges the battery at different rates based on how much charge the battery needs. To optimize for lead acid batteries, a lower voltage and higher amperage is used compared the lithium batteries preferring higher voltage and very low amperage. The…
I think Lithium battery’s biggest advantage, especially for boondocking, is you can get 85 to 90 amps of energy out of a 100 amp battery, whereas a lead acid 100mp battery only gives you around 50amps, so more bang per amp hr rating. Next is the weight, which would be an issue on a smaller TaB like the 320. On average…
I'd seriously ditch those heavy slow charging lead acid batteries you can only use half of first and switch to lithium before anything else. New solar controller with charge two 100AH lithiums to 100%. Then go from there. You can get a reliable 100AH battery with low temp cut off now for under $300. When you add portable…
