Let’s love the Alde and ketchup on everything :-0

Too funny. Off topic for a moment. Camping this weekend at Cave Creek campground in AZ.  Couple across the way stopped by to chat. They are from a locale that puts ketchup on their hot dogs (who does THAT?). Normal people put mustard on hot dogs. They are at my campground and post a picture of the surrounding desert and lament they are out of ketchup.  Another owner of their brand of trailer sees the photo and realizes they are in the same campground. She has ketchup, walks up to their trailer and knocks on the door. The couple is pleasantly stunned. While I personally think that anyone who puts ketchup on a hot dog (talking to you Wisconsin) should be shunned, I found this story indicative of the sense of community we share while camping. Kudos to that ketchup lady.

While I love the ketchup story, that same couple (5th wheel owners) lamented how loud their forced-air heater was. For all its complications, their comments caused me to appreciate the Alde system when I went to bed without needing ear plugs.

Nothing but mustard here! And yes I love how quiet the Alde is!

Hot dog with mustard AND relish!!!🙋🏻‍♂️. I had an experience a year or so back, where I woke up on night and heard this inexplicable noise, coming from some distance in the night... It dawned on me that it was the sound of some other campers furnace.  I couldn't believe how loud it was from the distance and could only imagine the racket it was making on the inside of the other trailer.  So glad for my Alde!

I grew up putting ketchup, and only ketchup, on hot dogs. Now I would put mustard and sauerkraut every time, and they'd be Beyond Meat brats, not hot dogs. However, I'm still big fan of ketchup!

Well, in the interest of full disclosure, I usually put ketchup, mustard, relish, lots of chopped onion, and maybe even a little cheese on my dogs. (And a chili dog sound good, too!)

Can't believe nuCamp sells trailers to people who put ketchup on their hot dogs.  Should be a question on the order form.  Looks like we're stuck with them.

Another good option is sauteed onions in a sweetish tomato sauce.

    Unashamed-ketchup-hot dog-eater. 😁

I personally observed the loudness of forced air heat at the KOA in Ouray in October. The Alde was as silent as the grave.

I can live with owners who put ketchup on their hot dogs as long as they are at least three camp sites away from me.  However, I draw the line at having a forum moderator who engages in this sordid practice.

Hmmm. I was told it was a requirement when they hired me.

Always ketchup. Sometimes mustard, but always ketchup. ;-)

And if I'm feeling really fancy I'll have catsup...

Admittedly, with regard to hot dog etiquette, the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council agrees with Tabaz on this topic:

    "Don't...

Use ketchup on your hot dog after the age of 18. Mustard, relish, onions, cheese and chili are acceptable."

Every bottle of Heinz ketchup has the following notice (in VERY small print on the back label):
"This product may only be applied to scrambled eggs."

I agree with AirBoss on both points.  TRob, you must live alone.  Or have the most understanding companion on the planet.  Statistically speaking (as in numbers), the possibility of two living human beings liking cold, leftover pineapple pizza with ketchup is zero.  I ran an Excel schedule based on government data to confirm this.  Whoever he or she is, go give them a big hug right now.  And NEVER camp within three spots of me.

I must admit that I was in my twenties and probably still a bit under the influence from the night before when I first sampled this little known delicacy. Then it just kind of grew on me. But now I'm more of a Holy Shiitake pizza guy.

And yes, my wife is very understanding.

Alde is the best! Can't understand why it isn't used in more RVs.

As for the ketchup on a hotdog- only thing worse than it that I can think of is ketchup on bologna....no ketchup on eggs is even worse than that. Wondering if we will have to vote you all off the island..... ;):)

XDR just threw down the gauntlet.  He or she just voted me off the island for my ketchup/scrambled eggs post.  So be it.  The battle lines have been drawn.  Alde and nuCamp must be following this thread with bathed breath (went to a vocational high school, so not sure of my "bathed" usage).  The forum moderators (non ketchup loving hot dog lovers I hope) must take a stand.  Is T@BAZ vanished from the forum?  If the answer is "yes" then I will move my comments to the Airstream forum (only to create more havoc since I don't own an Airstream).

No Tabaz we need you! I take it back...We need ketchup and egg eaters with strong shoulders like you to stand your ground. I of course will never come around to your way of eating, but as long as I don't have to watch you eat it, I won't vote you off.  :)

And this is coming from the Mrs., mer, who just also happens to be a grammar teacher, and who is waiting for your response with bated breath. (I know I'm annoying to most but there IS a good reason to learn your grammar!).

Sorry...but the hot dog, no matter what kind, is the attraction here.  Condiments, to me, are a waste of calories.

All Beef? Ball Park? Oscar Meyer? Kosher? Brats?

And as for buns...? Good old white bread? Whole wheat? Artisan?

And why is it that hot dogs come in packs of 10 but buns come in packs of 8? Yeah, I know. That way you have to buy four packs of dogs and five packs of buns to have it come out even. Gotta love free commerce!

I'm writing a letter to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council...
