We had a little surprise at the Buffalo Roundup in Custer State Park, SD. We woke up to 6 inches of snow and 28 degrees. The Alde heater kept us toasty warm.
Gateway RV Park in Carbondale, CO. $40 for full hookups. We pulled out, literally, the last minute they were open for the season. It was a quick overnight stop as we began to make our way back East.

Yes...although it was weak...had mostly shady spots and then inadvertantly forgot a set of cables after the first campsite. But, the AGM GC batteries were sufficient for the stays.

A mere 20 miles from the house, and just enough elevation on the mountain, that it was 15 degrees cooler. I left the park this morning, and my truck said it was 74, when I got down the mountain, the truck said it was 90.
I had the privilege of camping with Mrs @2COUGS this past weekend, her first solo outing without Mr 2COUGS. Dare I say we will be doing more when spring arrives and things thaw out! It was also my pup Reggie’s first multi night trip and he is a wonderful travel pup! You can see he was quite comfortable! Sunday morning there was a thick layer of frost on everything. I had winterized the previous weekend, but she was still hooked up to water. Note to self...a hair dryer is a must have piece of gear when cold weather camping! All ended well, it was a frozen spigot that was problematic. Anyway, we saw amazing fall colors!

Rosey Lane in Almont, CO: one if the many beautiful National Forest Campgrounds along the Taylor River. They were open late, this year and were still half full. The river is a wonderful lullaby at this campground.

Ampitheater Campground in Ouray: camping at 8,000' with amazing views of Ouray and the Ampitheater. We were warned of bear, mountain lion, and fox sightings. Pro tip: stay downwind of the pit toilets at the end of the season (pee-eew!)

Mrs @2Cougs and Murphy on one last campout of the season at Bowl and Pitcher (Riverside State Park) with @Homebodyatheart and her pup Reggie Nothing like a nice fire, hot coffee and freshly baked cinnamon rolls on a crisp Fall day!
We crossed the bridge and hiked to the other side of the river
and got some great shots... this is @Homebodyatheart ‘s “escape pod”
And if you look look closely you can see my T@b... beautiful sites overlooking the river!
Saturday morning we carpooled into town (15 min) to join everyone for a SpoT@b breakfast.... couldn’t miss that!
Sunday morning I was reminded why this was the last trip of the season. It took an hour to get unhooked from the campsite’s spigot! Was thankful for @homebody, a hairdryer, running the Alde all night, and that it was the campsite’s water that was frozen and not the T@b!

I have a “newbie” question for you @2Cougs and @Sharon_is_SAM (and anyone else who wants to chime in). I notice you (and others) have the water filter connected between the water source and the hose. What are the advantages to that as opposed to having it placed between the hose and the trailer? IMHO, it makes more sense to have to closest to the trailer in the event that the hose may get contaminated, it will still be effective.
Mrs.@2Cougs & @Homebodyatheart, Thanks for sharing the pictures. It was great you two were still able to make breakfast Saturday with the SpoT@B group. Looks like a really fun time for you two & the camping puppies. I'm surprised Mrs. @Homebodyatheart didn't have the hairdryer on her hands though! Glad you two got things figured out. Mrs.@2Cougs, What a fun solo trip for you & Murphy. I've been waiting to hear when you were going to make the solo "plunge"! Now it's off for more adventures!

@EmergencyKen My placement of the filter was based on stress I noticed on the plastic input connection. I wanted as little as possible. Earlier in the life of the trailer we developed a leak at the junction of the fresh water pipe and trailer side. Simple fix to tighten the mounting nut, but led to my "as little stress as possible" position. Btw, I also used a 90 degree elbow at the fresh water pipe and trailer side connection.
Your filter placement suggestion sounds very logical however... Mr@2Cougs

@jkjenn re: "Pro tip: stay downwind of the pit toilets at the end of the season (pee-eew!)" I may have up and down confused meteorologically speaking, but it seems to me that it would be better to be upwind of foul odors. 💩💨

@EmergencyKen here’s my setup. I did make a change at the hose bib end: pressure valve, water filter, then brass Y connector, then hose to the 90’ brass valve at the Tab. I figured that I should filter all the water or none of it, not half and half. I
@ericnliz why do ‘ya think I was holding the hairdryer AND cupping the heat on the opposite side of the connector! Hello???

@2Cougs congrats on your first solo! Great pictures, but I drooled with envy at the cinnamon rolls. I too attach the filter at the spigot for the same reason and I too use a 90* elbow at the T@B. @Homebodyatheart congrats on the new pup! Dog hair adds a whole new experience to camping. @Boulderjay I think 12* would be too cold for me! @jkjenn very pretty and thanks for the porta potty tip.
I too was camping this weekend, last of the season. Central Oregon on the Metolius River. Mid 20's at night but warm during the day. The second night I had a frozen water hose like @2Cougs, but all was well by noon. Another camper suggested I fill my water tank and disconnect the hose, which worked well. This was the first time I've used my tank and while the pump worked just fine, it sure was LOUD and clunking.
I did not disconnect my sewer hose though, so the next day I had to delay my departure until noon (I didn't have a hair dryer). Finally the black lever would move and contents empty. The gray lever opened, but contents still frozen. I could get the sewer hose off and wash it out. By the time I got home, I could water my shrubs with the gray tank. I did put RV antifreeze in the shower P trap, but was there anything else I could do for the sewer levers/contents to prevent freezing?

With no snow on the peaks and low water levels on lakes and rivers, it was not a banner year. I still thoroughly enjoyed myself.
The T@b was awesome, as always.
