Fuses for Newbies

Here are some photos and brief descriptions of fuses, breakers and reset buttons on my T@B (your's may differ!). The photos start from outside and work their way in. These are simply locations and descriptions. I'll leave it up to the electrical Einsteins on this forum to add any additional information as to how they work and what they mean. Hope this provides some useful information for our Newbies.

Alde unit is located under the seat cushion.

Smart to put a piece of paper or cardboard under them before removing.

Fuse is located on this Jensen unit. Must remove four screws to access.

cbarnhill, Just bookmark it so the post will be easier to find later, that's what we do. Hope this helps. On anything I think I might need info on later, I bookmark. Has helped trying to find it later, and much easier than trying to search for it even with "key" words!

Re finding the info, if you are on an iPad,you can email the entire thread to yourself and save it to a file. Much easier to retrieve. sometimes I copy and past more limited info, too.

Thank you OutbackAZ. I need to check the fuses on my fridge, as it works on gas but not on electric. The cook top is sealed with caulk. How did you remove your cook top after removing the four screws? Thanks! If you lived in Cincinnati you would understand why I'm signing this, Melvin!

And here's another sneeky Alde fuse that ChanW found...Unfortunately, soldered in...Fortunately, only ChanW has reported this problem so hopefully an isolated case...

KHigh: call Elsie at NuCamp for the Alde fuses. Amazon has a nice box of assorted blade fuses for the most common sizes. The rest (fan, co detector, etc.) you'll have to do more legwork. It would be nice if the dealer provided a set of spares with each purchase.

Great resource. Thanks folks. I might just list every fuse, go to an electronics store and buy one of each. Label them and put them in a safe place in the T@B. Be nice to have them on hand if needed.

Hmmm. No Idea why you are seeing gobledy gook... it opens fine for me on my PC's. What are you using for a device?

Maybe others can try it and report on what they find.

FWIW, the .pdf is just an exact copy of the original post in this discussion, so you are not missing anything important.

@kaylevine1, I recommend just buying these fuses to have on hand and don’t worry about it. Then when you have an issue that you can troubleshoot, you may have the fuse for any easy fix.

I have hidden my extra fuses from myself. After spending time going through the individual glass fuses I've found a kit that would save me a good amount of money. May I get someone to tell me if all the glass fuses are fast blow fuses? I stashed away my extra fuses four years ago and it's a good thing I haven't needed them. I think I understand why we wouldn't want to put a slow blow where a fast blow use to be, but if I put fast blow fuses in to replace slow blows will I be blowing a fuse whenever there's a little fluctuation? I appreciate any suggestions.

Um, that would be this discussion... ;-)

Unfortunately, the only glass fuses in which the blow rating is clearly indicated are the Alde fuses (fast blow, as stated) and the CO2 detector fuse (fast blow, judging by the leading F in the ID number).

Further complicating the matter is that Alde has provided mixed direction on what to use in the boiler. IIRC, mine came with fast-blow installed, but also included an extra pack of slow-blow spares. There's been some discussion of this in the past, particularly with regard to some Aldes having a propensity for blowing those fuses on a regular basis.

In general, either will work safely and the slow blow may prevent unnecessary fuse changes.

In addition, and I think more importantly, the US Alde rep Spencer was handing out handfuls of “T” slow blow fuses at uCamp 2018. So, we use the slow blow.
