Hiding Cash for emergencies

I've traveled extensively throughout the US and Canada and rule of thumb for me is to carry minimal cash.  Obviously some cash will be needed for establishments who do not accept a credit card, etc. but there are also (for the most part) available ATM's in most communities and along any given route where you can obtain cash when needed.  I also have done an exchange along the border when entering into Canada to have currency available and to eliminate the differences of both currencies and to eliminate greed by unscrupulous vendors.  If your credit is good and you have a credit card available and a decent line of credit available, you may never need to consider carrying large amounts of cash and therefore put yourself at risk via theft, etc.   

I did the same thing as you!  I was a bit shocked at the "accessories" that came with a lot of these stealth containers (smell proof bags!  )

How about putting it in a Baggie and placing it in the black tank drain behind the screw on cap? No one would ever think of looking there. Until now.

Buy one of those $35 lock boxes. Put some useless items in it that would shift if the box is tilted. Put your real valuables someplace else. Crime is the career of last resort. The thieves would think they hit pay dirt all the way home. 

@Michigan_Mike and @Verna if you ever pass feedback back to the factory, one thing I really liked in the Airstream Base camp was a locking compartment. I nice secure built in locking compartment would be nice.

Yes, we can add lock boxes, but it would be nice to have one standard.

Like this idea of hiding emergency cash. I do carry cash and put it in very secret paces. Years ago, I found a stash of money under the insole of a pair of shoes that I wore in West Africa. Sadly, the foreign currency was badly worn and useless. It did spark wonderful memory of my life in Ghana.

I hide it in my pocket.

I hid mine this last week under the passenger side seat. Wheel well seam failed and filled the compartment with dirt.  Will have to find a new place so I don't have to launder so many small bills.

cash what is that??? when we travel we use our Debit Card or a Master Card for everything, we get a better exchange rate when crossing the border, and for the very few time we hit a place that wanted cash they usually were able to tell us where the nearest ATM was, at the very most we only travel with about $20.00 cash each

I've been giving Tony my money for years. I'm not sure where he puts it, but he sez it's 'guaranteed' protection. I believe him.

Some smaller more rural campgrounds only will take cash.    In my experience it has only been 10 or 20 bucks,  and had gas station that was cash only.

I had a huge laugh when mandy leigh did a video about trailer mods and one lady showed us where she hides her valuables in the trailer,    I couldn't believe it.  

Think outside the box.   the more difficult for you to retrieve it makes it less likely that the bad guy will find it too.    I think my hiding spot is solid,   hope I never need to find out.
