Just to be clear, in the picture above, the rails are the low profile black strips that run parallel to the red trim. The mounts are the right-angled pieces that attach to the rails and crossbars, then you have the crossbars and basket. Are you really talking about moving or removing the rails? They're screwed into structural members in the T@B's roof. You could do it, but it would leave holes.
If you just want to remove the rack itself, to make a cover fit better, and you have the key to the locks (I don't, I wish I did!) then you should be able to unlock the mounts, open the cover, and see two places to fit an allen wrench. One of them loosens the crossbar strap, one loosens the mount itself. I'm not familiar with these particular Yakima mounts, but I've had multiple Yakima products on my car, that's how the current mounts work. So assuming these are similar, if you have the lock key and the proper size allen wrench, you should be able to take the whole rack off. Not something I'd want to do frequently, but for winter storage, probably not a terrible job.

It was 104 here yesterday, I kept the temp at 117 in the trailer, the heat is manageable if proactive steps are taken. It's not like a car that can sit in the sun with no cover and the windows rolled up year after year with no problems. I don't mind going through the extra steps to keep our Tab protected from the heat and in pristine condition.
I'm in the process of buying another smaller used Tag, that we can tow with a smaller car to save on fuel cost. One of the questions I asked the seller "do you have any problems with the front Stargazer window", he replied by saying it comes of the hinge when you open it up too far. This leads me to believe the window problem is probably an issue in hotter climates, and not all that uncommon. I would assume any acrylic/plastic windows would have a limit on how much sun and heat they could withstand, not just on Tabs but any trailer.

Re: Changing out the Alde fluid.
Based on this morning's pH test with a Lowe's $9 test kit with the six-in-one strips versus yesterday's test of the TF-1 fluid, and with my limited use of the Alde, it looks like I should be able to go 47 years before draining and refilling. Refractometer says I'm good. The cell phone pics may not due it justice (lighting conditions not identical, but I used the cell phone camera flashlight feature for some measure of consistency). Brand new fluid looked like 8.5-9.0 to me. And three year old Alde fluid looked nearly identical. Partner and I thought, if anything, the pH and / or alkalinity had slightly increased, not decreased. So no additional glyconic acid here. Woo-hoo! I added a reminder to my calendar for fall of 2063 to replace the fluid.

@PNWtabber with those three way fridges, it's best to never run it on battery, not even driving. I suppose if you know for certain your Volvo can keep up, it would be ok. I know my 4Runner didn't. That is the same stock battery that came with my Tab too.

Your battery would drain down to zero fast if you pulled the pin! You might be able to tie that pin cable to something that would pull the pin when moved, Art

In my opinion this is not normal. I have not experienced any soot build up around the exhaust vent in the 4 years of ownership, nor have seen this on any other T@B. I don’t know what would cause that.

Depends. If it’s 110v (household plug), you’ll need to know the wattage and have an inverter big enough to handle that wattage.
Cheaper option if you aren’t already set up with an inverter: buy a butane cartridge-fueled travel curling iron. Or a rechargeable one.

What @Gherzig said...if you're going through the hassle of removing and installing a new fan, just shell out the money for a better fan since you probably will never upgrade it afterwards. I'm not a fan of those tall rain covers that go over existing fans. Aesthetically they ruin the profile of the trailer and add so much height that you do have to factor that in when going through low-clearance areas (trees, etc.).
I wish Nucamp would install Maxxair fans as OEM. The Fantastic fan is horrible...loud, fragile (our lock broke within a few months) and limited speeds. Once you install a Maxxair you'll wonder how you put up with the Fantastic fan.
