    @klenger, I’ve been snow birding in Southernn AZ for 5 years now. While I know I haven’t seen it all, I’ve seen enough to keep myself aware. It’s just part of the solo traveler mentality. You didn’t scare me as I’ve seen arrests and paddy wagons, which is to be expected as I’m near the Border Patrol station for this area. 

    And actually. The crime rate isn’t much different here that at home—just different names and places.

    I'm with Verna; we're in our 2nd winter in Tennessee after close to 14 years in Connecticut & it's cold and snowy winters. (don't judge me, I'm NOT from there, just lived there for work lol) Granted, it's been raining a ton here but I don't have to shovel rain!

    @jgram2 Welp... Popper had to be re-homed because he had elbow dysplasia. The person he was re-homed was an ortho vet tech and her hubby! He had the surgery and graduated. He is now the boy-toy of Nana, the 8 yo German Shepherd. They both go to work with Mama and Popper demonstrates the underwater treadmill (with tennis ball motivation) and Nana relaxes on the Xray table and her owner instructs new tech interns how to position dogs on the Xray table. Nana works for belly rubs. (Nana hates the underwater treadmill). Popper is long and lanky and is finally starting to fill out.
    I now have Rocket, Popper's half-brother. Let the training re-begin! Ugh. Rocket is way different than Popper. Popper and the Boss kitty came to a truce. I'm not sure there will ever be a truce between Rocket and Bossman. Oh well. He's 4.5 months old. Long and lanky. I love all the people who tell me to feed my German shepherd. They aren't fluffy puppies. They are long and skinny. If you feed them more calories, they get long bone diseases and get longer and skinnier faster.
    Rocket's right ear was up at 8 weeks. Awwww cute. He wasn't as much of a land-shark as Popper, but I have my puppy-boots (impervious to puppy teeth). I also have my industrial motorcycle jacket that is missing some stitching on the sleeves, but it's survived two puppies teething during the winter. Oh yeah.. housebreaking during the winter. How in the world did I get the privileged of seeing more super moons this winter?
    It's been a hard year so far, but Rocket has gotten me out of bed every morning (named by my Dad, and whose name has been made fun of by my NASA friends and, um, my Dad).

    8 Weeks and Innocent

    4 months and giving me that "Wha?" face when I get off the phone. It's been quiet, toooooo quiet. Where's the cat?

    P.S. We went on our first camping trip three weekends ago. The weather was perfect. He rode in a soft crate and didn't get carsick. It works most the time for his carsickness. The soft crate was GREAT for the camper. Easy to maneuver into the camper and light. Rocket loved it. No more whining at night than usual for me to turn out the lights and get to sleep.
    You ought to have seen him when the Flamingo Phantom came and placed flamingos near all our campers! LOL. He trotted off with his prize. I'll try to get those pictures resized. The flamingo wasn't wounded, but was petrified!
    Rocket met the ENTIRE campground. I thought it would wear him out to meet every man, woman and child (he's such a lover) no matter who they were, and walk around the entirely full campground. I heard a lot of GSD stories. Rocket got tummy rubs. I needed tylenol. I also needed aspirin, advil and aleve. Rocket wasn't wore out. I was worn out. LOL. A good time was had by all!

    P.P.S. We are on our last puppy class after Easter weekend. I'm sure we graduated first in puppy and people socialization. I'm not sure we got any other gold stars. LOL. Rocket is a talker and gets all the other dogs talking. Oh, and he has a girlfriend. He's in love with a GoldenDoodle named Violet ROFL :heart:

    @Ratkity So glad Popper had a soft landing with his very own Nana friend. I helped a dear working friend care for her 120# Newfoundland while he spent 6 weeks in his crate. It’s a darn good thing he’s a gentle, slow dog, or he’d have carried me away on those very short walk breaks I gave him! I’m having some success training our 2 not to “shout” whenever they see a squirrel, cat, other dog or small child. See a creature, treat a creature.

    And Rocket! Another cutie! You’re lucky to have found each other-congratulations and thanks for the update.

    @Ratkity so sorry about the first pup but glad you landed with a happy ending. 

    Rocky just got done with 4 weeks of reform school.  We have classes, next. The training did make a sizable difference in his ability to be calm around dogs and people but we still have work to do!

    While it would have been a great weekend for camping, we enjoyed the gorgeous weather visiting with relatives up in Baltimore & Annapolis.

    After Easter service at the U.S. Naval Academy Chapel, with best seats in the house..


    The grounds on the campus are both beautiful & historic..

    And back home in VA, our Lady Banks roses are in full bloom..

    @BrianZ at least you were able to get some gorgeous pictures and get outside (or sneeze a bit)!! I've had to escort friends and relatives in the DC metro area many times as well as the Balt. Inner Harbor.

    Oh! And then there is no way my baby sis and I can top taking Mom to the Gaylord hotel for her bday and Mother's day at National Harbor last year. The weather was amazing, the Ferris wheel spectacular at night and my "foodie" baby sis made all the right reservations for Mother's day brunch. There was a spa day for Mom too. I think baby sis and I have tapped ourselves out. LOL.

    It is with great sorrow we need to share with the T@b community that our dear friend Eric ( @ericnliz ) passed away this week after a courageous fight with lung cancer.  Many of you knew him for his awesome pit BBQ at East Meets West, or from his lighthearted and knowledgeable presence here on the forum.  The SpoT@b breakfasts will never be the same without him.
