We just spent a week in Fairbanks, AK visiting the beautiful botanical gardens at the University of Alaska and several of the cities' great history museums. plus a short trip to North Pole, Alaska 12 miles to the south. We stayed at the River View RV Park on the Chena River that runs through the city. A very nice park, but again our little T@B was among the giants as this photo shows!

A great city to learn about the history of interior Alaska and how it was settled in the early 1900's long before Alaska became a state.

If Fairbanks is on your list to visit when traveling to Alaska, make sure you schedule a few days to take some of this in!

On the road around Newfoundland a week or so ago…Gros Morne National Park, a glimpse of the top of the fjord inside Western Brook Pond, Sandbanks Provincial Park (wow, the beaches!) and at the foot of Marble Mountain ski hill.

Spent the week at Indian Creek campground, Priest Lake, ID... have been coming here almost 40 years with the same families back when we were all tent campers. Set up and had a "Trunk Party" like the old days when my folks would camp with us, open the trunk to their old Lincoln Towncar, and set snacks on the hood of the car. They no longer travel, but just for old times sake we put up the grape lights they used to hang, all gathered for snacks and beverages, and reminisced.

Only down side to the entire week was that once again Murphy (our golden retriever) met a skunk!!!

And this is the third time in 2 years!!!!!!! Whole campground knows when it happens. I feel for the people who pull in our site when we leave as there is definitely residual smell. In our defense, the skunk was multiple places that night.

Used to use tomato juice... now only use that when husband runs thru the cloud of skunk mist!!! Now use hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and Dawn detergent (what the humane society recommends and works much better)... We take Murphy down to the trailer dump station where they have a hose and use that mixture, rinse him well, and then have him swim in the lake. Poor boy, rest of the trip we made him sleep in the cab of the truck with the windows ajar.

@2Cougs ... thanks for the knowledge. This could be its own thread. I had no idea about the H2O2 + baking soda + Dawn. As other dogs in this forum will inevitably find skunks, this is very useful info indeed!

@Denny16 - it is a Laputa - essentially the same as a Hasika which we also own. Made good use of both sun shelters this trip. I like when we can tie down to a picnic table rather than using poles. Tolerates that evening desert breeze.

Spent a wonderful week at Garland Bay (north of the village of Riondel) on Kootenay Lake BC…….the two camp sites were designed for tents or small vans/truck campers as there is no place to turn a truck and trailer around, however we backed or trailers up the hill on the narrow little trail for about 400 meters, and the end result was pure heaven
