Alde Safety/drain valve Questions
2022 Tab 400bd
Looking for clarification regarding fully draining the Alde hot water system between uses.
After much research on this and other forums as well as reading the Alde Compact 3020 manual, I'm still a bit confused as to whether or not I have fully drained the hot water system.
After our last trip, I drained all tanks using the Low Level Drains located on the driver-side rear of our Tab 400bd(pump off, all water taps open). *See bottom photo of Low Level Drains below.
As a step of the draining process, the Alde 3020 manual states: "Open the safety/drain valve by turning the lever"[yellow lever]. Open is in the up position.
I did not do that step yet hot water exited the Low Level drain when I opened the valve on the outside drain.(Not the yellow lever on the inside.)
1. I'm wondering if I need to still open the yellow Safety/drain lever located inside the camper under the driver-side bed(see photo below) to fully drain all the hot water?
2. If so, which yellow lever should be opened? I'm assuming it's the yellow lever associated with the red (hot water) PEX pipe?
3. Also, what is the purpose of the yellow lever associated with the blue (cold water) PEX pipe?
4. The Alde 3020 manual also states to leave the valve in the open position(up) until the next time the boiler is used. Is this necessary?

Re: Overnight camping, on battery, leave the water pump on?
@Jay_and_Kat we do the opposite of @marleecamps. We turn the pump on only when in use and turn on the alde when we need it. If you run the pump for a moment to pressurize your water system before bed, then turn the pump off for the night, the pressurized system will provide water for a couple of flushes during the night. This way, after flushing the pump does not activate at 2 or 3 or 4 am, and others in the trailer are not driven awake by the pump. It can wait until everyone is up in the morning. -Denise

I installed on 200 AH Lithium. One of the best moves I made with my 2021 320 CS-S. It changed our camping from worrying about whether we were taking the lead acid battery down too far to not being concerned about the battery. We can go for days without worry for the kind of camping we do. No regrets. I do have 200 watts of solar pumping back what it can into it.

@ejsalzer Some of us go early. Others reserve starting with an earlier date, and then a few days later, cancel the days they won’t be attending. There is a cost associated with doing that, but it’s fairly nominal IF you cancel those days soon. The longer you wait, the more it will cost you.
Personally, I prefer going early to settle in, play tourist, and spend time with my friends before the crowd arrives. To any newcomers going, “But I don’t know anyone yet!”, non-issue. Come early. See a Tab? Stop and chat. You’ll end up with more friends than you’ll know what to do with.

Re: Refrigerator Battery Protection
Hi @AnOldUr, Not saying it's convenient however the purpose of the voltage restriction at the cooler end is to protect its components from low voltage damage. It can't be adjustable for that reason.
The 2-way fridges also have the same protection. On my 2018 400, the compressor won't run below a specified voltage to protect itself however the fan will, hence no cooling. Infact the running fan fooled me into thinking everything was fine when in fact it actually caused an extremely high battery drain as the compressor kept recycling in an attempt to cool the fridge.
The only thing you can do is improve the voltage provided to the cooler. This could take one or more steps to rectify depending on your battery, cabling and extentions guages, connections and charging situation.

@Sharon_is_SAM when I pulled out the 3-way fridge I used the 12V wire that fed it to power the new chest fridge. On my 2020 320S the fridge was on its own circuit (F4) with a 20 amp fuse. My guess is that the lower voltage reading when the fridge is running is because of the length of the run from the fridge to the panel and then to the battery. I wouldn't think that the 2.5 amp draw would cause that, but I have no other explanation.

Thomas, those are instructions for a trailer with electrical tongue Jack and electrical stabilizers, like the nüCamp Avia, not a 2022 TaB320, which has manually operated jacks on them through the 2022 build. Same goes for the TaB400, all manual jacks. Not sure what nüCamp is doing for 2023 builds? FB in my experience is a good place for misinformation.

The black outer cover on the strings on my 2018 T@B 400 have started to unravel. If it gets to the point where the screen door is no longer viable i think i would consider replacing at a much lower cost and more convenient than sliding screen door IMHO. Re: 2022 Tab400 leaking when using Black tank flush
My understanding is that the Nautilus settings are irrelevant for the black tank flush line. It runs directly from the hose connection to the tank.
Several owners of new 2021 Tab 400 trailers have reported leaks at the black tank Nautilus connection. The leaking water spreads all over because the trailer floor underlies the Nautilus compartment and the plumbing. I would take your trailer back to the dealer and have the leak repaired under your warranty. That’s what I did.
